Either the compressor or the turbine housing tend to break at that boost. This I am not 100% sure of but I am sure the turbos have a reputation of breaking down at 14psi.

Heresay. They don't have a reputation of breaking at 14psi, they just have a reputation of breaking. 14 is perfectly fine. If someone blows turbos at 14, they were on their way out anyway even at stock boost. I've been way over 14psi and mine are fine. But the twins on my 2nd engine were blown when I get it, and that engine was completely stock.

Im running a little above 14 daily and nothing has broken yet. Have my Supra since last year October. Maintenance and the quality of the turbos plays a big part initially when you get the engine.

down in Oz, 1jz standard turbos have seen 18psi daily, and quite happily sit on that level, imo 16psi would be your best bet (or daily safe level) to sit on.

but in saying that, AFM dumps and FMIC raise boost to just on 1bar (bcc installed) seeing 207rwkws.

I stated that because during my research that's what I was led to believe. I havn't swapped my engine yet, infact it wont be here till next monday, but the turbines are ceramic, and from what I've heard I wouldn't try to push them any harder. I mean you might get really unlucky and have a piece of one of the turbines go into your engine??

Everything you read on Supraforums, or wherever you found it, isn't true. If you wanna run a bit higher boost, you'll be ok. Like I said if your turbos blow, then they were going to blow anyway soon even if you were at stock boost.

It's just one of those myths people like to keep saying over and over again. I hope you don't also believe parts are hard to find for the 1J in the US and that it doesn't make any torque.

<sarcasm> you mean people on supraforums spread crud and a 2.5L engine can actually make torque and ceramic wheeled turbos can boost past 1bar, say it isn't so </sarcasm> :evil2: :naughty: :biglaugh:

I wouldn't have ordered one if I believed that. I have seen some pretty impressive dyno sheets from 1j's. And torque is all about your set-up. I have seen people with more tq than hp in their 1j's.

No one ever answered one of his questions....
Are 1JZ pistons forged?

I read that 2jz ones are cast, and 1jz pistons are forged. Is any of this true?

Also what about the rods?

How would you have a piece of turbine go in your engine? maybe through your exhaust. Cmon you giys are pullin shit out of your ass now its not even physicaly possible if you destroy a turbine wheel for your motor to injest it.

Anywho I got my motor here http://www.nagasakijdmmotors.com/ca....html?osCsid=7f54abedd990957da3e9da444e77f875

All said and done it cost me like 1650 for everything including clutch and little stuff installed. Thats me doing it over the weekend in december. so I think 4k is a little bit high.

LOL turbine being injested
