Not really finding any info, but....

They have forged rods/crank/pistons, right?

MHG?

(I believe all the above is yes)

Now my question - are they still a draw through MAF based system? Or are they speed density?

They're going to have whatever headgasket you put on there. I don't think a stock hg is metal though.

Do you have a 1J, or do you like to just come in these forums and guess at things?

Yes it is metal, yes I believ they are forged and it is a speed density set up

wtf. So it's everything I want to do the to 7M, in a tidy package. :3d_frown:

I think I see why upgrading is so damn popular then.

I'm going to do a little research into the swap, then.

Ok, I think my decision is really going to rest on one thing.

What is FC on the stock 1JZ electronics set at? (I'm guessing it must be some xx PSI, since it is a MAP based system)

fuel cut is like 1 bar without fuel correction. Simle SAFC and bigger injectors and I have seen 2 bar already with no cut. or just get a $50 BCC

trust me, the 1JZ is a good decision no matter how you look at it.
I honestly cant say there is anything inferior on this motor at all other then the stock twins

No, I don't have a 1jz, although I plan on getting one later on. I did guess at it, but I also said that "I think" I didn't state it as fact, just my opinion. Neither one could hurt him in any way shape form or fashion, cause me thinking that they were not metal wouldn't change them. I was merely offering my opinion. I have agreed with your answers on alot of threads and regarded your opinions and answers highly. BUT, I guess you like to go out of your way to try and embarass people when given the opportunity.

Yeah, I'm currently in the midst of the age old arguement - 7m or 1j?

I could go with a maft-pro and stock injectors, and basically duplicate the 1j's electronics, or even just splurge and go AEM EMS. I don't like the inability of the draw-through MAF to not register boost, and I have a feeling part throttle/high boost applications are what detonate our head gaskets into history - or after a MHG, put too much load on the rod bearings, and well... you know the rest ;)

Actually, now that I think about it, even with a Maf-t pro, you can't control the timing.. so it'd have to be AEM.

The 1j will still have the FFIM, and the better flowing head of the two, though....

I'm pondering the idea of a forged internalled, rebuilt 7M + Boss stage 5 GTS 67 on an AEM system, vs 1jz.

I figure I can build a forged internalled rebuilt 7M for about $1500-$1800, depending on the deals I find on the parts ;)

AEM $1500
Turbo $1500

That's about $4500-$4800... about what it would cost to completely swap a 1jz in.

But I'm still stuck with a lesser-flowing head, and no FFIM. Decisions, decision. :(

Just remember if you decide to swap a 1jz, it will take a stand alone to map fuel above your stock fuel-cut level. Either that or you can just buy an upgraded ecu like a mines or a blitz access if you can find one. Another thing if you wanna go past 14psi, you will need a new turbo set-up.

I myself have baught a 1jz clip not because of the hype, but becasue I spent about 4 months researching it, and I found out it's what I want.

Good luck.
