in certain situations, yes. others no. im not shooting for 1 bilion hp, so 2.5l is fine for me. 500 would be nice (on race gas) but im happy with 400s for the street.

Yeah, not that familiar with 1J properties, if i was looking for 600hp should i go 2J or is a very thoroughly built 1J capable of that? I would think if a 7M is capable of that a 1J should be.

But is that pushing it? Because when i build something i build it for indestructibility. Like the 7M i could shot peen the rods and call it a day, but i was goin the titanium rod, forged piston, route with renitriding and swain tech coating the bearings just to make sure i could push 600 all day without breaking a sweat. I know on a 2J 600 is no problem. So is 600 realiable on a 1J or is that pushing it?
