the engine that's best for your car is the one that you've chosen after doing research about what you want to do with your car and how much you want to spend.

Actually, I believe it was Stenno who noted that there is not too much sledgehammer banging on the transmission tunnel involved in fitting the 2JZ 6-speed manual tranny in the MkIII chassis. The custom parts are the driveshaft and shortening [cut/re-weld] of the shift bracket and rod going to the shifter.
If you go 2JZ, the most viable trannies to use are the R154 or V160 for more powerful builds, A340E [the one from the 2JZ auto, and for a mild amount of power unless race rebuilding the auto], and W58 [with a stronger clutch, and even then only for a mild power build].
You could use the A342 from a 1JZ, but why?

The ONLY place I would buy one from is www.driftmotion.com , they are very cool people and as honest as they come. A whole clip is $2600.00, but that's alot better than buying just the engine. If you deal with Driftmotion, you won't be dissappointed, but if you don't deal with them, then I don't want to hear any crying later when your car isn't running..............;)

I don't know anything about a soarer. I bought my clip from Driftmotion and it's a supra clip. All I have to do is take it out of one supra and install it in my supra along with my newly wired wiring harness. You will have to contact www.driftmotion.com and they will answer anything you want to know about a soarer or 1jz swap. Good luck.

If you buy a soarer Clip The Wiring is completly different. It requires allot more work to get that correct. The Soarer is a Front Sump for the oil pan and you will need to change that to a Mid Sump so it will fit in your Supra. I believe there are other things that need to be changed as well.

It can be done and people do it. It's just makes life allot more simple to go with one from a Supra if you are not Super experienced with the soarer

The Soarer clips are also automatics, FYI. And dropping in a 1JZ is a lot easier than a 2JZ, especially one out of a RHD Supra because it was designed to fit in our car. The hardest part is the lengthening of the wiring harness 2 1/2 feet. But if you have the cash ($10,000-13,000), get a 2JZ. Just my opinion. And yes, I have a 1JZ, but I would have loved to have a 2JZ.

there are new tricks now that people have figured out so that you do not have to legnthen the main engine harness and still have it reach. If you check out my build thread there is info on it in there.

as far as easy of install goes the 1J is a breeze. This was my first engine pull/swap/and install. it went pretty well for me, plus i did it on my own. The 2J takes allot more customization to get things done right.

The 1.5JZ is a good alternative also with the 1JZ Head and a 2JZ Block

Now you're just bragging...............:biglaugh:

I hope mine goes as well as yourd did Josh. As soon as I get my stuff from Aaron, I can get started. I have my new head installed, but I need the wiring harness to really get started on the rest of it. I can't hardly wait to get everything together and actually start working on the car. Wish me luck.

AZN MK3 - 1JZ's are much more frequent in MA70's than 2JZ's.

I think everything is dependant upon how much studying you've done on your JZ series motors & how deep your pockets are...and hope that you've got plenty of patience because this is something that can't be rushed.
