Aaron,

How is the A340 holding up with the nearly 300 horses?

It's actually an A341 with the 1jz. I have one in my 1jz car too, I love it!
It has never missed a beat, and I redline it all the time and get it sideways. The ecu has a rev limiter that kicks in between shifts and it shoots flames with no cat. I'm not sure of the exact mechanical differences between the A340 and A341 to be honest, but I know the shift solenoids are different. It also has a manual shift mode on the A341. Dave's has been in so many races it's rediculous, he goes to the drag strip all the time in Utah, and he actually was the fastest mk3 at the strip in Vegas silv06 hehehehe

^That's right bitches. Seriously though I beat the shit out of my car. Ask Aaron. I have about 20 low 14 second passes on mine and am sideways damn near everywhere I go. I spool to about 10psi on the e-brake everytime I get the chance. I run 100 flat top end and have not had a single problem with motor or tranny. 1J is the way to go.

Anything will take a beating stock...1J is useless as tits on a bull..Don't waste your time with that and go with a 2J or go 7M

I think it really depends on what a person wants and their ultimate goals. If you want a daily then maybe a 1J would be nice since they rev smooth and have nice hp stock. If you want power I suggest either the 7M or 2J.

I beg to differ my friend. The stock 7m blows it's head gasket if you look at it cross eyed. It definatly can't "take a beating" unmodified. I blew three completely stock 7ms in less than a year. I have been hammering this 1j at 16psi for over a year without a single problem. Don't get me wrong, a well built 7m can take a beating as Aaron has proved, but not a stock one. Just my experiance, take it for what you will. The 2j is great but stock for stock I don't think the performance over a 1J justifies the price gap.

Dude, definitely don't mean to rain on your parade...but if ANYBODY can speak to the beating a well built 7M can take...it's Duane. His is one of the few (only one I can recall), to be featured in a major national publication (Sport Compact Car) twice!!! As much as I'm glad that I am doing a 1JZ swap. Duane definitely deserves the utmost respect for what he has done for the advancement of the MkIII Supra Community.

:werd: I still have the SCC mag that Duane was featured in for the old school shootout. Not to mention Duane has built some of the nicest CF parts out there. With any luck he'll be able to get some CF soon. God only knows just how many orders he has waiting to be filled for CF stuff. Mad props to Duane.

Sorry guys, I forget that forums are for nut swinging not for providing your own experience when someone asks a question. I don't mean any disrespect to Duane. His numbers are awesome and and his carbon work absolutly kicks ass(I want some of it). I am simply sharing my experience, which involves my engines and those that I am familiar with. If I lived in Canada and spent time building stuff with him I would have named his 7m in my post. I still feel that the 1J is the least expensive and easiest way to end up with a quick and reliable car.

By the way honestabe those headlights are very sweet. I would like to do something similar. Can you pm me with more info on what you did. Specifically can you aim them and how did you get that to work.

What is the way you feel based off of? You should put together a price tag for 450-500rwhp reliable 7m, 1jz and 2jz in an MKIII body and i am sure you will change your mind. Bang for the buck = 7m PERIOD.

7m
Head gasket, shot peened internals, arps, maft pro, 550's, AFPR, fuel pump, turbo and labor call it .....4000 bucks

1jz
Clip, plus labor = 4000+ that is a hell of deal for a stocker installed i m sure people pay a bit more than that but i maybe wrong Chime in anytime bigaaron (intake and 3in exhaust 300+rwhp)....... moving on

2jz
hmmm clip alone 3000+ ..... need i say more

Seriously, it was said before, who with a JZ series engine would swap it for a 7M?????????? It feels like a breath of fresh air and TONS of weight lifted off my shoulders not having a 7M anymore.

Yea thats a good point i do all my work myself. When i run into a problem that i cant solve i go to my friends who have shops that work on little every day type cars and if they cant figure it out i will post on the forums but ...... but how many people will actually be able to do a complete swap first off and then make 500rwhp for $4000?
