there are plenty of people with 200k+ miles on their 2jz's, with turbos. just as many out there w/ the non turbo 2j's. im not sure if the 1j's get used enough to get that many miles. they dont drive as much in japan so a high mileage 1jz isnt nearly as common as high mileage 2j's. we already know there are high mileage 7M's. my first mk3, a 91, had 163k on the stock motor. so, the 7M can be just as reliable as anything else if properly maintained and not abused. it only blew up after i beat on it. that was me being ignant.
the power curve of a 7M is more street friendly than a 1jz, thats for certain. the bottom end grunt that sits you back in the seat happens almost 1000rpm sooner on a 7M than a 1jz. ive built and tuned both kinds of cars. i prefer the 7M for the torque and the sound. but i prefer the 1jz for the efficiency, reliability(fool-proofness) and smoothness at elevated rpm's.
