Simple question really. Which one is better suited for a MKIII. Sorry if this is a stupid question, as I am a total N00B to car tech and what not. But I love my supra

2 more questions. Whats the power difference between the 1JZ-GTE and the 2JZ-GTE.

And how much work does swapping from 7M-GE to 1JZ-GTE entail?
In other words, do i also need to swap out the tranny and other parts?

I would suggest yo swap to and r154 tranny (if you standrad na you have a w58). To do that you need a 1j bellhousing and flywheel.

Ok thank you. I'll search more about it when I have the money and time to do it. For now i'm trying to build up my knowledge about these things, because I'm a noob to this car tech stuff lol

And thank you for serving our country ::salute::

Just like the other person stated if you have the budget go 2JZ right off the bat.

I personally like my 1JZ motor, but if I had to build something from scratch I would be pick the 2JZ. :sarcasm:

Well i know everyone say's 2J off the bat but i personally think it would depend on what you are trying to achieve

if it only going to be a street car i like the 1J for that and how it feels but that is me personally.

The 1J is generally an easier swap if you start with the right frame and the 2J will require a fair bit more wiring work not to mention money

And how is the 2j not as "streetable" as a 1j?

i am not saying it's not but just saying i like how the 1J is on the street and how it spools almost instantly with it's turbo's.

So depending on what he wants don't spend money for a 2J if you not really gonna use it that would be a waste in my opinion

Everyone's opinon will differ, so let's not start a pissing contest.

The 1j is a great motor and I loved mine. I chose to go with a 2jz block since I had one available, but I never had any complaints about the 1jz other than the lack of torque jokes I got from the 7m guys................damn them 7m guys!!!!!!!!
