1jz more reliable than 7m gte?

I have a recomendation.... Try both engines. See which one you like the best and build that one. If you can't afford to do so. Just stick with the 7M since it's already in your car.

90% Most 7M engines are the original engines that have been in the car for 20 years.
90% of most 1JZ engines are imported and completely rebuilt.

No doubt the 1JZ is a newer design and probably less prone to faults, but, you have to understand why everyone has problems with the 7M and why the 1JZs never seem to have problems. Its mostly the mileage.

Look at a 1jz and a 7m up close and you will see the 1jz's improved reliability is from superior design, not just mileage or age. Some people can't deal with that fact without getting all bothered. :dunno: Does that mean you can't build a 7m to be as reliable and make more horsepower? No, obviously you can, it just depends on how much you want to spend on the 7m (time and money). When the 1jz was designed, they already saw all the problems that arose in the M series engines, and they fixed all of those issues with the design of the JZ engines.
