hey guys, fairly new to the 1jz. i know most guys know a list for the 7m , intake, exhaust, bc, etc. but how bout for the 1jz? i have so far just downpipe, exhaust, and intake and hardpipes. what are the next steps, ypipe, boost controller, intercooler, ? and what is a safe boost level for the stock twins? thanks guys

Boost controller, intercooler. Don't bother with the ypipe unless you have to change the turbos anyway. Or you really just feel like going through the trouble to take the turbos off.

Boost the twins up to 18psi if you wish. You will feel a good difference between stock boost and ~16-18psi.

Other than that, there's always cams.

Stock boost level is 11 PSi.

Don't forget the turbo timer. I'd recommend the Greddy Full Auto turbo timer. It's the best on the market and not that much (about $100). If you're a baller, go single for the turbo setup. If you do that, you have many choices of turbos to choose from. But that will run you a couple grand. Doing a Y-pipe install on a 1J that's installed takes about 8 hours. If the motor is out of the car on a hoist or stand, about an hour. Fair warning.

Other upgrades would be the 2JZ-GTE 440cc injectors (easy upgrade to do), or go the 550cc injectors (requires resistor). I'd also recommend getting a Koyo aluminum radiator (twice the stock thickness and about $400), but well worth it. Then there's the intercooler block-off plate which is cheap and helps with cooling (get aluminum if you can for better heat reduction). The Walbro 255 lph fuel pump is another great mod. 2JZ-GTE Map. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Here are some of the parts i got for my 1J

SARD ECU
2.5 '' IC Pipe w/upgraded FMIC
Intake w/metal intake pipe
Y-Pipe & Downpipe (was a pain in the ass to install but total time wasn't too bad)
Test pipe & Cat-back
Apexi Turbo timer w/harness
Koyo Rad
ACT Clutch & PP
Replaced the valve cover gaskets / turbo manifold gaskets / rear main seal etc ( engine gasket set about $175 shipped)

Thats all for now.
