well all these dealers seem like nice guys and girls. you guys pretty much narrowed it down to driftmotion or jarco. seems like driftmotion would help me out alittle more than jarco. althrounh jarco seems to have the warrantee and what not, it may be worth the extra buck.

By the way, why are opting for the 1jz swap? A built 7m is cheaper. And we all know that the 7m can produce all the power you need. Just a question, not trying to knock your judgement OR the 1jz in any way. :nono:

How is a built 7m cheaper? Please include the labor in your equation :icon_bigg

Unless of course everyone hear can be taught easily how to build an engine to the tight tolerances called for and do machine work...

ropadopa: i think i would spend the same amount of money shipoing from those guys as i would going to pick it up. i like in the panhandle...panama city. so after food and gas and hotel it would be about the same.

Itr206: yeah i know how it is in sales. youll say anything to get someone to buy something and you want to look the best.

i guess the best thing to do would be start calling around are see who has the best to offer.

if anyone else has an 1jz-clip buying experience please do share

Keep in mind a few things, like its nice to actually pick out your motor in person as you could tell allot buy looking at one like what aftermarket equipment is on it, has it had a boost controller on it. Also you make sure you can get everything you need, those little parts count and add up.

Grip seems a little pricey

yes and no as your getting allot more than you think, anyone who has did there own swap knows how nice it is to have as complete as possible and evreything you need. The sets from Grip come with everything from intercooler to hydro fan as they are experienced with the mk3 that helps as some of these larger suppliers dont even install them in cars they just sling motors.

also tech support is awsome as they know 1J's

Don't start that stuff.

The bang for the buck built 7M vs stock 1J arguement is weak as hell.

You should also give consideration to Driftmotion because these guys have been a part of the Supra community with valuable information and great help which they give out without any strings attached.
they have first hand experience with Supras, whether driving them, maintaining them, upgrading them or selling parts for them.

jarco is a good company too but they don't seem to contribute much or anything at all here rather than selling us engines and supra parts.

Jarco is like that awesome druglord that runs your whole city. He doesn't have to do shit to get you to come to him, all his satisfied buyers will do that for him by spreading the word. You come to him.

yeah jarco does seem like the "big guy" or w/e you want to call it.

as far as the 1jz vs. 7m i think they are both great motors. im just looking for something a little different. something unique here in p.c. but yes agreed it is a weak arguement.

Try to call any of these places that sell clips for less or more then us and ask them technical questions and see how fast they come up with an answer. Aaron and I both have done lots of 1jz swaps with no problems at all. We are enthusiast helping other enthusiasts; we both purchased our clips from the same three places that we get your clips from. You can get a 12 month warrantee from Jarco, but we all know what we are going to do with these engines, and I think any warrantee is void after that. This is how I see it buy from the place that will help you the most.

I just want to reply to this comment because I recently ordered a jza70 clip from the guys at driftmotion, and I would like to thank them for being very cool people. Any question I had about the swap they were able to answer, and they were very nice and honest. So far I have had a very good experiance with them and they deserve a +1 in my book. Very recommended.

About two months ago I placed an order to Jarco for a jza70 half-cut, and they guy calls me while I'm at work, and tells me he has one for sale, so I told him I wanted it but I needed to wait till I got out of work to get my funds together. So I get all my money together after work and call him back (two and 1/2 hours later). And he tells me that it was sold. I guess he sold the clip right out from under me. So I get on the forums at SF and I heard about driftmotion. I called them up and within two days I was able to place my order with no problems.
