Okay, I know that there are tons of threads about electric fan conversions and the Ford Taurus 3.8L V6 2spd E-fans are commonly used. But I wanted some more detailed information and suggestions from people who have installed this fan. I'm gonna be installing this fan and don't want to make any mistakes so I need to know everything to do this right. The fan will be going into my 91 1jz MK3 with the stock 7M radiator. I think this fan is an absolute steal compared to the expensive aftermarket in terms of cfm power. I tested one out and it literally blew me away. I realize that this fan is an absolute drainer in terms of electricity though. So if anyone has had success with this fan, please chime in on your thoughts and share everything. A few questions that come to mind:

1. How is the fitment of the fan with the shroud onto the MK3 radiator? What mods need to be done? Does the fan clear the pulleys? Any mounting suggestions?

2. How much power does the fan take up?

3. Is an alternator upgrade required? If so, what alternator is equivalent?

4. How should I do the wiring for the car?

5. What additional supplies, items, tools should I buy to make a successful install(relays, fuses, temp. control sensors)? And what brand and model of these supplies are recommended?

Thanks a lot and the help would be appreciated.

there was a seller on e-bay that supplied instruction's on the electrical part.it would be nice to have it kick on slow at first and then high speed when needed.it might help the alternator keep up with the demand.
i just installed a volvo bosch fan in place of my flex-a-lite's.i'm trying to figure out where to set the thermo switch (180-240*).i just came back from a drive and the car was running at 175*.the fan was running to much and seem's to have run the battery down a bit.105amp alternator and odssey pc925 battery.

I use that fan! $30 for the fan and ~$40 for an adjustable controller/relay/fuse from an auto parts store. zero problems! but it wont look as sweet as direct fit fans.

1) I had to trim the shroud to make it fit
2)I don't know off the top of my head. The low speed setting is the only one i use and I have never seen a drain on my system, I wouldnt worry about it.
3) Again, I only have it set on the low setting, but I have never noticed a need for a bigger alt.
4) go buy an adjustable controller from a parts store. That will have directions and make it simpler. Make sure to buy a controller with the proper amperage rating. For low speed use a 30amp rating and for high speed use 40+ amp rating.
5) I used 4 of those plastic things that slide through your radiator and have pads on each side to hold it up.

My car has been driven very hard in a Houston summer with zero temp problems, but I don't run air conditioning. I picked this fan because it was a good cheap learning experience and had 2 settings so i could make it suit my needs. There is a TON of info about this fan out there, its good stuff :)

^^^alot of the mustang guy's use them,so it can be hard to find for $30.most people on e-bay sell them for $59+.it's not alot of money at all for an electric fan,but there also 10+ year's old.
i'd like to see some pic's of the taurus fan's installed.i don't have much room in my engine bay.
some pic's of mine for referance
