if i have a 1 jz engine, but it comes w/ no harness or ecu, what is the best method to go about getting the engine running, could i just go stand alone or would i still need a 1jz harness, or is the 2jz harness compatible, sorry if these are stupid questions but i could figure out what to search to bring up what i was looking for
thanks

give aaron a call at driftmotion. you could probably use a standalone but it might be hard without a base to work from. make sure it works with the 1j ecu and then go from there.

you could probably find an Aristo Harness and Ecu from a 2JZ and run it easier than finding a 1JZ harness.

a few guys on here have gone that route

Search around forums, usually people sell their 1jz wiring harness. Also check ebay, I believe there is a 1jz harness and a couple of ecu on ebay right now.

There is a 1jz ECU online right now along with 2jz ecu's. I will be buying a motor in a couple days, and I am going to make sure it has a harness igniter, and ecu.

Agreed with BigZav. Nothing fancy in the wiring either and the Aristo eciu maybe more reliable too since the 1jz ones seems to blow caps quite a bit recently.
I sold my harness setup to run the Aristo ecu and harness for my 1jz.

Could always try Jeff Watson at Champion Toyota. (713)-943-7010

+1. Been dealing with him for almost 4 years now. Extremely helpful with parts and great with prices as well.

Caps as in capacitors? Nothing has failed me yet but always open to the heads up...
