I have an uncut harness on my 1JZ, has anyone bypassed getting the harness extended by relocating the ECU? Is this even possible?

Where have you gone to get your harness extended?
-I know that phoenix tuning offers a wiring harness extension.
Are there any other places?

Thanks
Sam

You have to make a hole in the firewall, a few inches left from the throttle cable hole and the ECU will reach fine to the glove box. Its easier than harness extension for sure, and cheaper. i had it done.

You can also enlarge the speedo hole!

The speedo hole haves two layers of sheet metal small outside firewall hole & a just perfect diameter hole on the inside make the outside hole on the firewall the same diameter as the inside hole cut the 1jz bulkhead garmet slip the speedo cable in route the EFI harness into the glove box from behind the radio your done.

I used a rotozip
rotozip.jpg

with the cutting bit to cut the circle out.

The ECU will mount with the connectors facing the driverside instead of the EFI hole.

Then use the pigtail body connectos from the 7M EFI harness and splice it into the 1JZ/JZA70 body connectors only 12-20 solid easy to splice unshielded wires the less options the thinner the little body connector jumper harness.

One last thing to remember is you have to cut the plastic harness guide off at the back of the plenum because it points your harness up when comming off the back of the engine you cut it so it goes streight into the speedo hole. So they are at the same level horizontaly.

Anyother tips or suggestions?

Best tip I can give ya is measure and triple check everything. There is nothing worse than cutting through the body harness or something else.

If you swap the brackets on the ecu to have the plugs face the left side of the car the harness will reach easily i've been told.
