In the first post, he wanted to use the stock vss with a programmable aftermarket speedo. No need for the dakota digital converter box. With my autometer, and most other aftermarket speedos, they get programmed to ppm (pulses per mile) on a gps's or known distance route.
Its in the last post where the gentleman wants to use the stock (or marlin converted) vss with another stock speedo thats non adjustable, thats when the dakota digital box comes in handy.
I have experience with all of this. From the programming the speedo with stock vss and getting the ECU to log corretly by adjusting with the dakota digital box.
Edit: if the ecu truly takes the + and - from the speed signal, thats great, just splice the wires to the speedo, but where on older units where its just a single 12v square wave input (rather than an a/c signal) youll route the vss to the speedo, and use its output for ecu and cruise control funcitons.
