the car is a 5spd 1990 rhd twin turbo r with a stock 1jzgte in it. the car has it it when i bought it a blitz ecu, safc, turbo timer, cone filter intake, hks exhaust with cat temp not connected. everything worked fine till now

here is the problem. the car was idling a little high

yesterday. usually it would idle at 800 or so but it went up to 1000rpm. didnt feel like it was to worry about.

this morning, it idled fine at 800. but, as the car got warmer, the idle increased and went up to 1300rpm and stayed there.

today afternoon after work, same thing. as it got warm, the idle would increase. when i blipped the throttle when its cold it goes up to 1300 before it gets warm.

tonight, about 6 hrs after i drove home from work, when i go drive the car, idle bumped to 1500 and stayed there. when i have the car rolling at about 20kph but not in gear, the idle to go hunting between 1500-2000rpm. when came to a stop, not in gear, it would rest at 1500 and stay.

now at this moment, car is sitting at garage, the idle is hunting even if the car isnt moving. i sprayed throttle body cleaner and checked all hoses. doesnt seem to be leaking anywhere. i tried to pull codes with the t1 and e1 method. showed nothing. i tried to reset the ecu. no use there as well.

i suspect the idle control valve as its a common failure item. but, i dont know how to test it or have the specs for it. any help would be appreciated.

with the icv connected or disconnected it makes no difference. i used a smoke machine at work today to look for leaks but found nothing. after 3k rpm, the car drives just the same as before.

the map sensor seems to be working. i have a safc hooked up and the voltages and vacuum readings look correct and same as before

honestly, sounds like your ICV carboned up and got stuck, or you have a leaky intake gasket. I doubt it's a gasket they are rubber coated steel and reuseable, so idk. I'd check into cleaning the ICV, and if that doesn't do it.... start looking into the ECU itself.
