so i was out crusing last week when my car just shut off at a red light, had to get it towed home. its cranks starts then dies after 2 seconds, fuel pump is priming i have spark, i clamped my return line from my regulator and blocked the vacuum and it started and idled for around 10 seconds then it died again. i tried several times after that to start it the same way and it only ran twice. now my next step will be to do a fuel pressure test but does anyone have any other ideas for what it could be. btw ecu was sent to MINES from previous owner.

How's your harness wiring to the battery? I foolishly ran my car for a few years without a battery tie down in place. From all the cornering and spirited driving, the battery had eventually moved around so much that I was left with TWO strands of the harness to battery connection. Was cutting out intermittently and wouldn't start with anything resembling ease.

Unfortunately this was 200 miles from home. Fortunately it was during the middle of the day, so a trip to the auto parts store for some crimps, connections, and wire saved the day. :)

So it seems that my diagnostic box is not conected and I had no luck fitting a fuel pressure tester in there so now I'm just trying tofigure out what I can do to test the pressure from another spot. Does anyone have any ideas? that would be great.

What harness do u have. Mine was out of a chaser and the wires for the ck codes were cut. I have mine running to a toggle switch. . U just have to locate the wires. U may be able to trac them back to ecu and ck codes that way

Yep, just ground TE1 at the ecu. But that only helps if the light is hooked up.

OP, does the "check engine light" come on, with the key on?

my harness is from a supra front clip. is there a way to check if there conected properly without having to go throught the entire harness?

you can just literally ground the TE1 wire and it should start to flash the codes. probably your best bet so you do not have to go through the entire harness to find the wire. I would just put a toggle switch in there as stated above.
