1JZ Buying Questions

I am looking into buying a 1JZ and I found a motorset for 850.00 but it is automatic transmission.

My 7MGTE is r154 tranny so will I be able to use my transmission on the 1JZ? Also, What about my clutch? If I need the bellhousing, will the auto bellhousing work, or no?

Yes you can use the r154 and clutch you have. You will need a 1jz bellhousing and flywheel.

the 1jz 5-speed is an r154

They are 100% identical (minus bell housing & flywheel) R154's

Or you can V160 6 speed that 1JZ but then you need around a 3.20 diff otherwise you have to launch in second gear making 6 speeds useless.
Also if its not a 3.20 with the V160 then you have no top end speed.

the 1JZ bell housing can be had at Champion Toyota for $300. Flywheel is $223 from them as well. Any 7M clutch kit will work with the 1JZ bellhousing/flywheel with the R154.

The auto ECU WILL also work with a 5-speed.
