I tried to record the car n how it sounds when I floor it. It only happens when I push it past 10lbs.

still on twins, fmic, ssqv

SAFC not installed yet, no wideband yet, no boost controller.

You can hear it at the end of the video when it breaks up. It sounds like its hesitating in the video but its actually feels like its sputtering and dying out. When I let off the gas it picks back up and pulls.

Am I hitting boost cut, not enuff fuel (need to install safc), bad coil packs, bad spark plugs. Thats all I can think of that can be wrong. This only happened since installing the fmic, didnt go past 10lbs or act like this while i was on the smic

It's hard to make out in the video whats happening but from your description and the fact that this started happening after the fmic install i almost guarantee its a boost leak. Look aver all of your piping and connections.

the fmic Sounds like its leaking, Check that intercooler for leaks and the entire pipping system.

Spark plugs would missfire at all revs

the plugs are almost a yr old. I didnt mess with the gap, i just got ones for a 2jzgte. Platinum plugs. Im wondering if the intercooler is bad??? If it was a boost leak wouldnt it not boost at all? Like when I blow a coupler I dont get any boost.

Ill try to make another video with the digicam this time.

Its weird cuz it only happens with full throttle. If I hold it at 10lbs its fine, just when I try to go past it. Maybe thats why im blowing couplers all the time past 10 lbs? hmmmm

Well there's a major problem right there dude. You need to get a set of NGK 6097 plugs. They are copper and should be changed out every 10,000 miles. It will set you back $15 max for all 6 plugs. The 1J doesn't like platinum plugs. Trust me.

ngk bkr6e's and bkr7e's work really well on the 1jz's, 6's for a stock setup and 7's when you wind the boost up....

there's also a denso iridium that works pretty well (and there's ngk iridiums that are supposed to be just as good) but they cost about 4 - 5 times as much and the only real benefit is they are claimed to last longer (but not 4 times as long)

oh, and those ngk's should come gapped to 0.8mm, so you should only need to check them / make minor changes... unless your local supplier only has the -11 plugs in stock, then you will need to gap them down to ~0.8mm (some people recomend 0.7)

FIL, we speak in thousandths of an inch here. Nobody sells a spark plug gapper in mm. Just thought I'd let you know. Remember, gap the NKK 6097's at .028 and don't forget to heat shrink your coil pack stems while you're there (5 minutes to heat shrink the coil packs).

How do I heat skrink them? Wrap them?
