Well i decided to start a new thread because my old one was comepletely different in nature. Seeing that i found all the hardware to install the ssqv successfully has turned events around. BUT i seem to be having a problem now. This bov is specifically designed for my car (jza70), but why am i stalling? Is HKS so stupid that they purposely made a vented bov that would cause your car to stall every time? Did they not test it on the jza70's before they marketed them?? Or am i just forgetting something here? I have the older model that is non-adjustable. It is somewhat strange because i drove around for a good hour and had no problems then all of a sudden, it just began to stall, start, stall even more , start..... then eventually wouldn't start UNTIL i disconnected my battery and reconnected it after a few seconds.. I am sort of lost here and fed up because i've been dealing with friggen bov issues since november 06. :icon_mad: .. ANY HELP WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIATED!! Thank you in advance.

Is the BOV stuck open for some odd reason? I don't think improper vacuum is your problem here... The non-adjustable SSQV's are actually the newer models, the older one were adjustable...

OK well... heres the deal. THE CAR WONT EVEN START AT ALL NOW :( It will turn over, maybe start for a mili second then die.. i can do this over and over but it will never stay running for more than a mili second (literally). I need help asap as i work 40 hrs a week and cannot afford to have my vehicle down for this long! Thanks

You my friend might have a bad ecu, or a bad isc, on the HKS bov, they stop making the adjustable awhile ago, people kept losing the bolt lol.

My car was doing the same for awhile and I tried everything to figure out what the problem was. I disconnected my coil pack and cleaned it, and for some reason it started again. I also was having a problem with my MAF causing it to stall out on me. Good luck on pinpointing the issue, it was real fun for me.

I hate when the MAF sensor fails on a 1JZ

I would check that MAP sensor then move on to

Check the common stuff

check engine codes if check engine light dont work take reading off ecu directly with test light.
check timming belt for broken tensioners weak belt jumped time?
check timming & position sensors (lets car know when to spark)
check fuel
check spark by removing complete coil and use a test plug.
check vacume for leaks

fuel & spark will make any engine run unless its FUBAR

It can not be your BOV you can remove your whole intake system forward of the plenum completely from your supra and it should run the way the 1JZ was designed with a map running off the plenum it would run with out IC intake filter turbo plumbing bov etc... it just wont boost with it all off for some reason :dunno:

fuel pump.

If your BOV is not adjustable, it's a fake :)

Wrong. I have the older style design SSQV and it's non-adjustable. It's got that nice yellow HKS badging on the top of it, came in the big black and purple HKS box, has the nice ooga booga Japanese writing that I can't read, and even has the hefty price to go along with the HKS name ;).

Well shit........ now I don't know what to believe.

Back to the car not running, I told him to remove the return fuel line, and crank, no gas came out, so either his fuel pump is bad, or it's not getting power.

One Jay Z: I completely forgot about the power thing, your pump MAY be alright, just has a bad connection somewhere. Take the access panel off in the trunk, and check to see if there's voltage to the pump.

Older style (previous visual looking SSQV's made before the recent face lift) ones started off as being adjustable. I think the good Doc has a couple (IIRC). Later on (don't know when really) they changed the backs of them to a non-adjustable version (probably because people where either setting them too tight or too loose, causing them to either break, or break engine parts), but everything else still looked the same. Now they've changed again to keep the Chinamen from copying them and selling them dirt cheap (for a time anyways).
