1jz--2jz turbos are they the same

Im not THAT knowledgeable with the 1j/2j turbos. Iirc it depends on I they came from japan for use in japan. I think the 2j turbos have two different sets of twins.
Again, Iirc the 1j turbos have ceramic wheels and are smaller than usdm 2j turbos

Correct, the 2jz can have two different sets of twins, and the 1jz had a completly different set of twins, or a single.

The largest twins are the 2jz USDM twins.

What's the material used for the USDM 2JZ turbo's compessor wheel? Some sort of steel or something? I've never really paid close attention them, but I have to say they can take quite the beating.

I don't know much about USDM turbos but the JDM 2JZ setup is alot more efficent than 1J. Bolting them up isn't much of a problem, it's how lazy you are I had both on my 1J

i have a question since I'm not a expert on this...i heard that the gt28 hybrids are a bolt on upgrade for the ct12b's but way about the ppl like me with 1jz with the ct12a's will they bolt up as well?

1jz twins are ct12a's which use ceramic wheels IIRC. JDM 2jz are Ct12b and a ct20/ USDM is a ct12b and ct26. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ct20 is JDM 2jzgte twins. Ceramic Turbine, Aluminum Cast compressor wheel.
Ct12b is USDM 2jzgte Twins. Steel Turbine, Aluminum Cast compressor wheel

CT20 and Ct12b are Interchangable. External are identical. Internal; the CT20 is bigger shaft and IN/EX

CT12a is JDM 1jzgte Twins. Ceramic Turbine, Aluminum Cast compressor wheel

You can put 2jz twins (CT20&CT12b) onto the 1jzgte motor with slight moddification.

All I can see that would be a problem in the rear turbos from the 2jzgte (CT20 or CT12b) arnt actually internally gated. Its gated for post Turbo, not pre. So you would have to sleeve or weld the turbine housing and drill a hole through the wastegate port into the scroll to get it to be internal gated, to run on 1jz as true parallel.

I've received 3 jdm vvti ct20 and all have been ceramic, not steel
