So I previous ordered a 1JZ-GTE from Gotjdm.com (MEGA FAIL)
Paid for a complete engine (With uncut wiring harness) Here's what I got.

Just two quick examples... No Ecu, MAP sensor, Alternator Bracket is Broken, Throttle Body = split in 2.. On top of that it's not even supposed to be the version it is. (I asked for one from a Soarer...We think this is from a chaser.. which basically it would of been about the same price to do the 2j.. Return/refund wise, My Bank is taking these guys to court because of how unprofessional they where.

Looking at other importers right now. A friend reccomended Osaka or Tiger, Osaka has a pretty good price on one with the tranny @ $800 I'm going to call them in the AM to see what I can find out. Tiger isn't bad either.

Was just seeing if I could get a nice list of shops that people had great reviews from. :3d_frown:

I got mine from them, bad experience but I got a lucky deal. Oh and they dont have any engines, they just farm it out to someone from Canada. May I ask how much you got taken for?

For sure, I've dealt with them already for other swap parts and know they're great guys.

I know of 3 good 7m's from tigerjap, my 1j from gotjdm is mint also but they first had one for me that "failed compression tests". its funny because they dont even check it. when I got my "good one" it had about 10 years of shipping container rat turds around the coils in the valley.
I know JHOT will treat you right, Driftmotion will also.

I got my auto JZA70 motorset from Osaka through eBay and it was MINT. It came with the ECU, complete UNCUT harness, rear sump oil pan, MAP sensor, ignitor (with wrong bracket), intercooler pipes, a broken TPS, and clean cams and the motor absolutely purrs right now.

A friend of mine picked up an Auto 2JZ motor set from an Aristo through Osaka as well and that came complete with everything and that too was clean.

So like someone else said, I guess Osaka's a hit or miss.

Out of curiosity did you order over the phone with them, or on the site? I talked to the guy from Osaka about the whole ordeal and he said that we can pretty much promise that it's in mint condition..and the fact that he asked me if I wanted Front or Rear sump..made me feel good. It's nice to feel like the person kind of knows what the hell you're talking about. Came out to like $1150 shipped, so really can't beat that price. Keep you guys updated on the engine condition this time.

If worse comes to worse at least I have an engine with some back up parts. (Turbos are good and what not)

If you deal with Osaka as a shop that does alot of business with them, they from what I have seen will pay much higher attention to you. My motor was a '92 auto with 60k and they sent it with a W58 mkiv tranny and bell housing, but all the guy at the shop did was call and they refunded the money AFAIK.

(I personally got so lucky, this motor is so clean I could eat off it haha, plus it was auto so the chances of it being beat on in the same ways as a manual are far less)

Yeah, that's another great thing about this, the Tranny that came with the paperweight seems to be in fantastic condition I'm hoping between the two "complete" motors I'll have I should be good to go on the swap.

Yikes that sounds like a real mess, hopefully by this point, after my Daily Getting recked and the supra being down for like 4 months fate will conspire in my favor. :nono:

I posted this in another thread today but that was in the "General" section and I figured it was relevent to this thread as well...

Santa finally paid me a visit in his big brown sleigh today. I've got to say I'm pleasantly suprised. The engine looks great. So far it looks to be as advertised. I was only at my shop for a little while and snapped a few pics. The only thing I didn't notice while giving it a quick look over was the MAP sensor, but I'm not sure where it is on a 1JZ so it might be there. If not, it's not a big deal. I bought one off Ebay cheap ($25) a few weeks ago plus I might not need it since I already have a MAP ECU2 and I think the MAP in there makes the stock one unused anyway. The harness had ALL the connectors and the hydrofan ecu and ignitor are still hooked up. Here are some pics...

I'm pretty sure this is the connector for the fuse box with the other end of the clip

All in all, I'm very pleased with what I got for $1050. It's even the second generation 1JZ. It also had the starter, motor mounts and brackets, and trans ecu. I gave it a quick lookover but didn't see any cut wires or anything else that would make me growl. Does this mean Osaka is the shit, no. It just means they're the shit in my case. The next person might get royally screwed. I just got lucky and until I actually have it running I'm not going to praise them too much.
