1J 88 Pricing?

What is this car worth? My friend who doesn't post anywhere is in need of selling his white 88 targa 1J. The body is an N/A, with a dent in the right rear quarter panel (corner where the tail light is). It has a TorSen 4.10 diff and stock sawblades with brand new tires (less than 500 miles on them). The interior is brown, and the rear carpet that goes under the hatch is missing. And 1 of the hinges for the spare tire cover is broken. The stereo head unit will be missing (current owner is keeping it). The front upper strut bar is cracked on both sides. And there is also a JIC Magic lower strut brace. The paint is fair. The front bumper is burgandy (with chips in a couple spots) off of a 90 turbo (my old supra in my sig). Here's the killer though, the turbos are blown and the tags are out of date. What do you guys think I could get for it? I'm thinking $3-4k. LMK guys. I will get pics within the next couple days.

which one? burg. or blue? doesnt sound like a pretty car, but as long as it runs it may be worth a few grand maybe.

The white one is the one I'm selling. The burgandy 90 is what my 1J used to be in, now it's scrap metal (litterally). The Gay Blue car is my work in progress. I'll be getting it back from the motor swap shortly so I can install my pile of goodies (see build thread). The car runs, but the turbos need to be replaced ASAP. My clip alone was $2500 + tax and delivery.

i know it sucks doesnt it? you can never get what you put into it. just set a price and see what happens.

I can't do anything really until I get the car, and my car, so I can swap everything over. Once I do, then I'll put it up for sale.

From what I have seen looking for a mkIII for myself the 88 with a 7m is 500-1000 with a blown motor, but with a 1j I think you could easily get 1200 or more. But this is from what I have just seen looking around for one.

The motor isn't blown, only the turbos. And that's an easy fix (replace with fresh set in about 8 hour, instructions can be found online).

I'm selling this car for my friend. I have no intention of keeping the car. I just want to sell it. I'll be getting the car tomorrow, so I'll check it out and take some pics. I'm thinking either the valve stem seals are bad, or the turbos.

if it smokes constantly at idle its the twins. if it idles with no smoke for a few minutes then you blip the throttle and it smokes or smokes on start up its the valve seals.

honestly i'd like to see how much you get out of it. i have an 88 Targa 5spd with a dented rear 1/4 but otherwise in AWESOME condition that i might be selling. oh and its single.

I just talked to my friend, he said it smokes when you punch it. I hope you are right about being the valve stem seals. I'll take vid tomorrow.

do so. my twins smoked like a CHIMMNEY(sp?) at idle and decel. i went single now it puffs smoke on start up. and when i idle at a light or at mcdonalds drive thru and then hit the gas to leave it'll puff blue smoke again.
