What's the cross sectional area of the narrowest section of the 1G pipe? I think this is really interesting and most people running the big front mounts might benefit from it if the 1G pipe can flow the volume. Regardless it still has the benefit of not going over the turbo so YAY for that. Good luck.

if he's gonna add some oil, can't he just remove the little piece of piping..? it's not like a few t-bolts are gonna take an enormous amount of time to undo

or am i missing something

No, that's all it would take but that is still considerably more difficult that just unscrewing the cap. What if he needs to add oil and doesn't have tools?

What self respecting MK3 owner doesn't have some tools in his car lol

This is a pretty neat solution may have to look into this myself at some point in the future. Although I notice you have no altinator in the pics and does the bonnet close without fouling it??

Thats why I always keep a toolbox. all it would be is a 10 wrench to undo the coupler at the thotlebody.

Down but not out: I am making an alternator braket to fit where the a/c was, the hood still closes easily. and if I wanted I could still put the alt. back in the stock position.

That would be me.;) The only tool in my car removes my targa. Whenever I break something I need parts anyways so what's the point. Also, I'm sure as shit not going to be the guy standing on the side of the highway with my head buried in the engine bay. That is seriously unsafe.

CAA card > tools

lol, i didn't start a build thread because i KNEW i would let it fall behind, besides inadequate tools, and no working space, not to mention still looking for a job :-/

my car's 21 years old (older than me) things WILL break, i can't even start to count how many times having tools w/ me has saved my ass a hell of a lot of $... not to mention possibly getting killed or robbed

i even keep spare parts w/ me

I was going to do this a longgggg time ago, but went FFIM instead. :)

I'm glad to see someone did it.

Doesn't look as crowded as I mentally pictured.

Working on another a few other intakes just a few other options to look at. I may try to make one like the ones Ron made but IDK?
