Sorry but i am positive you are wrong! The GTE can deal with the extra compression due to the lower intake temps and intercooler. It is alike the JZ series engines, they have 8.5:1 compression.

Stupidly I didnt take pictures or measure the GZE pistons - but they do appear to have higher compression. The GZE pistons aren't as dished as the GTE's - they're "flatter" with a hump in the middle as well. So I'm still sticking with my story hehe :evil2:

Your eyes they lie :)!
If you dont believe me go do an intranet search, besides that it is rathe rwell documented in regards to the compression of each series of engine.

::fundy::

I still beg to differ.
A very reliable source (Ron Lange - check toymods forums) who has delt with the 1G a LOT (currently getting 440rwhp from one) has confirmed the GZE is 8.5:1 and GTE is 8:1. If you can get your hands on a set of GZE pistons, measure them and I'll measure the GTE ones. I put the GZE ones in without measuring them.

"top of gudgon pin hole to piston top and then top ring land to piston top."

I would measure my pistosn but they are in the car, GZ20 soarer with a 1ggte.

GTE: 8.5:1
GZE: 8.0:1
GE: 9.5:1

There are no doubts about it I am sorry, who ever told you that a GTE was 8.0:1 really needs to cheack again. I am also on toymods.

When you say Ron Lange I am assuming his handle is 160TU? Runs his 1ggte in a Gemini? Looking at his photos the engine in his car, that is a GZE.

Yeah - you'd think that, but I know he IS running a GTE. He is using the GZE CPS and GZE cam covers and I THINK the later model GZE wasted spark coil packs. The fact that he's got an 00b3r poweful 1G in a Gemini should be evidence enough that you shouldn't rely on photo's :nono:

Well the cam covers are defiantly of a GZE but that still doesn't change the about compression ratio's across the series of motors.

PS if you like 1g stuff check out 6BOOST's threads. Also pleas show more proof of 1ggte/gze compression ratio's and I'll believe you.

I've yet to hear back from a guy in aussie who's worked on 1G's since day 1. I personally think you are right - GZE having lower compression but I respect Ron and his knowledge. I'll make a call tomorrow.

By the way everyone - rebuilt the engine - new rings and GZE pistons in - running 1 bar (14psi) it bloody hauls arse!! :D
