Gettiing things together to have Josh start/finish the 2JZ-GE swap into the 1990 Supra.

I plan to sell this Supra locally, after the swap's done.

So, I have the GE that will be going into it and am rebuilding it. Just new rings, bearings, seals, headgasket, etc. I am sure that this will make it an attractive buy for someone.

Question is, I can also easily put TT pistons and headgasket on it for someone to eventually go NA-T, making it an even more attractive buy.

While not turbo'ed, what will having the TT compression do to the performance of the engine? Increase/decrease in gas mileage, power, etc?

I do also have a 2nd N/A motor that I can can build for the N/A-T separately, but I may not be able to build both simulteaneously to offer the potential buyer (with price differences, obviously).

Thoughts?

Dropping the compression on a N/A motor will drop the power, the question is how much

definitely drop the power. i would stick with all the NA pieces to sell the car. that way the buyer would be guaranteed a car ready to run with zero work needed. the thought of buying a car only to throw another few thousand dollars to get it to run correctly is a turn off for me.

this is all speculation upon the fact that turbo pistons might drop the compression to the point of excessive lugging

If you're selling the car, do the NA-T your self. The 400+whp car will be a lot more attractive vs the 150whp car. Even if your profit isn't as big, itd be 100x easier to sell.

Unless if the NA price is extremely attractive to MK3 kids (ie 1500 2k MAX)

You have to consider that the 2JZGE adds little to no value to the car to 99% of the world.

While it has potential, it is still NA, and unless the swap is done really cleanly (legally), it will only be worth the same as the NA.

I would just get it running for as LITTLE as possible and dump it. You will not be able to recoup your costs or time, if you try to add fancy things like TT pistons, etc.

If it was NA-T reliably though, that is a different story.

Just my opinion. I sell lots of cars and I know what people are looking for.

Makes sense to leave as stock and let the potential buyer take the next step if they want to. Since I'd be replacing the rings/bearings anyways, it wasn't gonna make much of a difference to me anyways. You're right, still can't anticipate what the buyer' plans might be.
