when i bought my car it ran great (101,000 miles ). i drove it about a total of 1 mile maybe less and let it run in my driveway a few times, and i started noticing more white smoke at startup, so i thought it was BHG. then the alternator went, and when i jumped it to move it, it was smoking like crazy. now i just finished changing the alternator and it runs only when i hold my foot slightly on the gas, it dies at idle, and the more i revv it the more it smokes, and it now seems to burning oil as well as water. my next step is going to be to pull the head and to replace the gasket, what else could be causing this and what other steps should i take to correct it other than the HG?

Water pump, t.stat., timing belt, all coolant hoses, any cracked, hard, or brittle vacuum hoses, injector seals, spark plugs, oil filter. Get a head gasket kit. It will come with all the gaskets you need to replace, valve seals, and cam seals. Don't get the E-rip junk; get Felpro. They're already coated with a sealing agent, and meet or exceed factory specs. Get a front main crank seal, and replace it as well. Get new head bolts as well, and torque them to 70 ft. lbs.

Oh yeah, read this; it should help: http://cygnusx1.net/Supra/TechTips/head_swap.aspx

You mean you don't think water in the cylinders won't effect how your vehicle runs/idles? Fix it first, then get to the idle problem, if you have one.

it actually wasnt the problem. my new alternator wasnt charging properly the first few times i ran the car and causing it to die at low rpms, but now all of the sudden its charging and idling fine. it does however now miss somewhat, i think that might have something to do with water in the cylinders but i'm really not sure. i'm going to do a block test for the hell of it and then i will replace the hg either way.
