Well I finally did it! I found what I thought to be a great deal on a supra turbo to get away from years of building turbo civics Then I put the money (800.00) in the girls hand she gives me title and Key we load up on the trailer and then I find the list of stuff she omitted from the purchase conversation. Mind you I only had 30 mins at most to look at the car due to my job so I sorta blame myself but anyway she's here and well fellas heres the list of things that she stated were wrong and my solutions or lack there of.

(1)5 out of 6 cylinders low compression 4 under 100 - 1jzgte swap in 2 weeks yes I think I've collected about everything but you can chim in on my list I have the bell housing, will get the electro fans, have the correct mounts and may need help with the 3 wires on the interior and the one in the engine bay from my research. still debating going single turbo before I put her in as I heard its a bitch to do after its installed someone referred to needing ky to get it in I was like okaayyyy.

(2)engine wiring needs attention wires are missing or in the wrong place!!!! hopefully this will be addressed with the above swap

(3)targa top was sealed with epoxy...no idea why she just didnt replace the molding

(4) Coolant leak somewhere! go figure see number 1

(5)Removed the e-brake because she didnt have the money to fix it so she took the springs out? I will seriously need help on this I can do the work just don't know the system just need a heads up on it cable is still there so should be a easy fix.

(6) driver side door cant be locked/unlocked from outside jack up someone tried to break in....I will need help with this.

(7) heater core blew out! um ok no clue where it is or how to get to it. I assume its behind the dash so might need help or info on how to remove that to get to it...its easy on a civic as I've done it before but again no clue on the supra.

(8) body issues as you can see from the pics shes in need of some major work. I can do alot of it well some if it and im going to make an attempt to get her at least to primer state with all the rust repair/replacement trust me the rear wheel well rust is severe to say the least:1zhelp:.

That about sums it up. I know this is long but well I figured I would get it all out at once and go from there. This is obviously not going to be an overnight project and I know I have alot of work in front of me but I think it will be worth the effort. I planned on doing this to a mustang as a project from the start but ran across this one sitting in a field (spiders, ants, and other various bugs to prove it:aigo:) and I was hoping that the supra community much like my civic community would be willing to share thier knowledge as a whole to help a fellow/new supra owner to get up and running. If I have been a newb in the supra community in anyway please feel free to give constructive criticism......now with that being said please have a geniune response to my ignorance so it would be just that......constructive. I want to thank all who have looked at the post and to those that will lend a hand in advance.

Wish me LUCK:biglaugh:

wow, thats a project alright. More than I personally would want to tackle. What are your goals for the car? That will play heavily on what advice we might give. This community and this forum in particular is a family and we will definately take care of someone who respects it in return. Youve shown that already with a fantastic first post.

A couple of overall shots of the car in good light might be helpful as well. Does the engine run at all now, even for a few minutes? That could be helpful to find out more about the rest of the car before you go tearing it apart for the JZ swap.

as with any forum there is lots to learn from this site if you use the search function and also check out the FAQ's and swap section. Also keep an eye on the for sale sections for good used parts.

Welcome and good luck with that...I think you are going to need it ;)

That's a lotta rust bud, good luck with that!

The heater core is behind the dash, yes, but you have to take a ton of stuff out to get to it. If you do a search on here for it, you should find a pretty detailed write up on it. Didn't look too difficult, just time consuming. There is also a write up on rebuilding your own door locks at home. I'll tack them on to the end of this post.

Excellent first post!

Door locks with pictures- http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39358

Heater Core, also with pictures- http://www.supracentral.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=42

Good luck.

Certainly cant accuse you of being unambitious. Best of luck on your endeavor.

I beleive I have enough pics to do a pictorial dash removal how-to. just getting the time together to do it is a chore for me right now. I will look at my part shell tommorrow and let you know just how difficult the heater core is from that.

Thanks guys for the response it's appreciated. The rust is a Major problem I'm starting to find. I've attached more pics for your review inside the wheel wells. I think I can cut it out and recover/fill in the damage will take a stab at it anyway and hey if it doen's work out...well there's still parting her out....god knows I would hate to do that but sometimes you have to let r go...lol.

My Initial hopes for the car were to get her to between 600-700 hp that's typical on one of my civic builds so I figure this should take very little effort with this car and as far as the exterior/interior basically a complete overall. I'm actually pulling the complete interior and repainting/recovering from the burgundy to either a grey or Black....Thats my fiance's part of the project:naughty:

Weezl we actually got her to fire up and she ran on her own for about 5 mins before the truck we used to jump her started spraying coolant from a blown radiator....sorta like it go passed from the supra ...it was weird it just started dropping on the garage floor than it was a flood from the suburbans radiator I was like wooowww. Anyway the car didn't smoke, miss, or make really any weird noises that I could detect. We tried to restart but the battery obviously was complete shot even after getting a jump and running for a few mins.

I'm honestly rethinking the 1jz swap on this car and rebuilding the 7m based on this...and what I found in the rear wheel wells. I will post pics of my progress and issue that I run into so everyone can see how im coming along and if there's some advice or comments.

Thanks Guys

with a running engine my hopes for you getting your money out of it are better. I would seriously reconsider trying to save that one. I would be looking for a rust free (or at least surface rust only) shell to put all the working parts in.

600-700hp is certainly doable...with a big enough budget.

Well, with furthur discussions with my fiance and the general concensus I pretty much have determined that I will part the car out. I will be posting pics of the car on ebay as a parts car. I really don't think I could get my money back otherwise. We will start the dismantling when I get back from Texas on Saturday just so you guys have a heads up. I will tear the block down to sell individually (head block) I do know for a fact it has a 6 puck clutch kit can't remember the brand but have receipt for 400 bucks that she gave me. My plans are to sell the rebuilt tranny, lsd dif, block and head ignitors(have 2) and the 2 ct2 turbos I have and send the rest off to a metal recycler...should be able to recoup most of my loot.

Weezl...Thanks for your insightfulness and I'm sure when I find a new one ( I have the bug now) I will be seeking you out if you don't mind. To all others let me know what you need. I will post her in the for sale section as well.

Thanks Guys:nono:

Ya know....the more I think about it I simply hate to give up so easily that's not in my nature....as I stated in a previous post I would give it a try it would cost me aobut 150 to see if I could get it all....if not then I will part her. Weelz:1zhelp: you seem to be a person I can reach out to in need...I know what your thoughts are on the car but if you have the time I would appreciate you humoring/working me on this project as you know what my goals are and what I plan to do And Maybe this can be some sort of tutorial for those tryin to do the same thing or something similar.

I will speak with a specialist on the rust issue to see if they can repair it at a minimal charge so I can focus on the drive train and interio vs me doing it myself. BTW if you in the central Ohio area your more than welcome to come by and lend a hand...:icon_bigg:icon_razz:biglaugh:....lol. decision has oooofiicccaalllly been made.

It's back ON!!:icon_surp
