Block is new, head rebuilt, there is 2mm stopper in there along with ARP's - but there are albo stock 440's and stock FP. How to make it reliable and still be able to push 15 psi sometimes.

BTW turbo is upgraded CT26 57 trim and still stock AFM

Suggestions welome :D

I did get 1BAR without even slightest sign of fuel cut ... yet i try not to shift over 5-5,5K. Turbo spools nicely at 2400RPM. Stock paper filter, stock IC, stock pipes ... Just wondering how the hell it's all possible :D ... and the gauge [before you ask] is brand new greedy [up to 1.5 bar]

umm i dont think fuel cut is his concern i think he just wants to know if the fuel system will handle it
i know it wasnt his concern...thats why i wonder why its not happening cause he doesnt have the supporting mods....therefore im trying to save him from blowing up his engine since he doesnt have a wideband

how old is your fuel pump? after 20 years they FAIL. no doubt about it, your stock fuel pump WILL let you down. since you have a metal head gasket, its even MORE likely that you wont blow it, and instead youll simply melt a hole in a piston or something similar.

at the very LEAST, replace the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator with an adjustable unit.

i would say since the motor is fresh, a fuel pump is a small price to pay in the long run. $100 now, or $1000 down the road......

If ya wanna make good numbers and be reliable I'd say you definatley need a good fuel pump, a fuel pressure regulator, and 550cc injectors. You'll also want the electronics to run all of it, depends on which route you go as to which you buy. I made a custom 2 1/4' hard pipe kit from stainless steel, you can use aluminum as well but when I did this it wasnt available, I also installed an HKS SSQV BOV and a K&N FIPK, this coupled with exhaust made the car pull a lot stronger and more reliable 15+ year old hose doesn't hold up well and if u push 15psi thru them your gonna bust one eventually, also the stock BOV sucks and if you want a healthy turbo and no boost leaks look into a BOV, you got a good engine but you need a good fuel and plumbing system ;)

in order for you to hit such high boost is cause you have leak in the acordding hose leeting in unmeater air witch raise's the fule cut and may make you car run tad rough if it is big

while your in the pump area don't forget the filter. alot easier to get to with the tank down.

Nope ... Acordion is NEW and all the clamps on the IC system are new, hoses inspected for cracks and everything just peachy ... YES i do know i need fuel system upgrade and i need wideband and it's all comming ... and I don't plan on running the car 15psi till then ... more like 12 psi. I need to get BIC DDP and a wideband sensor plus new fuel pump and AFPR ... thats the plan so far

Good thing someone else started this thread. I was actually going to ask something a little bit similar.

I'm probably going to order a T3/T4 hybrid for my '88. I plan on changing the fuel pump before I even turn the car on the first time. Also, I have a brand new fuel filter sitting in its box back home, so I'll get that done too. Got a FMIC and all hoses and such are going to be brand new. Also got an AFPR from Arometer.

My question is, with this setup along with the Greddy Ultimate E-manage I plan on getting if I keep seeing good reviews, how much will the stock injectors hold?

PS: If Greddy already sells a compatible wideband 02 for their Ultimate, I'll be getting that as well immediatly... forgot to write this before. Also, with the Ultimate, is the stock AFM removed and replaced?

walbro fuel pump, new filter, remove the J-pipe. i highly suggest larger injectors with a larger turbo, but if not, then definately an AFPR, like lagged stated earlier.

^^^ you cant have one without the other.

more air means more fuel.

Not if the air is unmetered from a hole in the accordian hose, which is after the AFM. The tccs doesn't know about that air because it hasn't seen it, so fuels for what the AFM is reading. You get a lean condition which could cause your engine to go pop.

as always, your stock pump and injectors are nearing 20 yrs old.....do you think they still flow their original flow rates? heck no. why spend all sorts of $$ building a "new" engine only to slap on 20 yr old dirty injectors and an old wheezy fuel pump? do it right- get a new pump and at the very least get your injectors cleaned/flowed....some method of tuning is also probably in order....

i had my motor completely rebuilt last year and blew a head gasket due to my failing stock fuel pump. keep in mind that i was only running 10 pounds of boost on the stock turbo.

my car is an 86.5 and the fuel pump was never changed. it was failing even though the car only had ~76000 miles when the fuel pump started to go.

if i ever get another supra, or any other car that i plan to modify, if its not 4 years old or newer, im replacing the fuel pump first thing.
