Excellent work Sir!!!

Clear Coat?? - LOL !!!!

Clear coat was not used by Toyota during this period. As mentioned above, single stage paint was used. This is where the paint and hardner (clear) is mixed together prior to spraying. Us supra owners dont have the luxuary of clear over our original paint.

Anyone who fools with single stage paint knows it's bitcy and tempermental when it comes to paint swirl correction.

My car came with a clear coat. I do get paint trasnfer but its only on the nose panel where there is no clear coat anymore (flaked off) and my targa which just started to flake.

The reason I said that is the orange peel in the paint. The original paint on my car has none, the resprayed parts have it...

Process is as follows:
-Wash
-Clay bar
-tape up the car
-Wet sanded pass side with 2000 grit due to heavy water spotting
-Began polishing with Meguiar's G110 Dual action polisher
-First polish: Meg's Ultimate compound on orange 5.5 inch pad at speed setting 5. Just worked on panel at a time, some areas needed to be gone over twice. The hood was a bear! I had to break out the 3 inch orange pad for more cut. It took a while but I finally got it. lol
-Second polish: Meg's Swirl X on a white 5.5 inch pad at speed setting 5.
-Applied Meg's #26 Wax by hand.

I have used this similar method and products on several cars (both clear coated and single stage) and it has always given nice results.

What exactly is water spotting? Also ive never used a buffer before and dont want to mess up, any tips? My drivers side is almost perfect but everything else is terribly faded, there is also a good amount of scuffs in the paint because the previous owner was old and i guess couldnt drive. lol

That looks great. I had a similar situation with my maroon supra. It was oxidized so bad when I washed it the sponge and towels or whatever would turn red.

I polished and waxed it all up one time and it turned out awesome. I kept up on the wash/wax and the towels stayed white, I thought I was in the clear and saved the paint. Then I let it go without washing it for like a few months. When I washed it things were just like it used to be, the paint is oxidized all over again.

Not sure where I went wrong.

Sounds like clear coat failure. Past a certain point the cc is just gone and there's not much you can do except for re-spray. I had a similar situation on my '93 Sentra, just on the horizontal surfaces.

I may be seriously misinformed but I thought the supra never had a clear coat from the factory. When I was polishing it was pretty obvious that I had no clear coat at least lol. I burned through the paint to the primer in a few spots pretty easy(no power tools).

I just thought it sucked my paint had such a huge improvement and lasted many months then it goes right back to the way it was.

Yeeeep, my car is nice and pink

If you polish out the base of a 2 stage paint job it will look good for a bit, but it's not meant to take the elements and will go to hell pretty quick...

It looks to be repainted and just worn (single stage lasts maybe 5 years out in the elements).

Looks repainted with some seriour orange peel.

This is definately the original paint. I imagine the car was garaged and well cared for most of it's life, just neglected the last few years.

Check out this red 1996 4Runner I did a few months ago. Similar oxidized single stage red, and similar results:

And to answer a few other questions, the rims are Enkei RS Evolution 17x9 front and 17x10.5 rear. The antenna is just a black collapsible antenna that is only raised up about 1/2 way.

BTW, GOOD NEWS: I got the car to pass smog today!! Woo-hoo! :icon_bigg

Disagree on the original paint based on the orange peel. Regardless congrats and looking good. How bad is your drivers quarter(by the door)? Have a good one that didn't get killed.
