Well, I did discover that the turbo was leaking oil into the intake system, & there was quite a coating of the intake mani & 3k tube.
All the intake runners had equal coating, so I still don't know what caused #1 to foul. (It was oil coated after a 10 mile drive - but still running well)
Perhaps the oil ring end gaps being aligned were just enough to foul #1 1st?
New valve seals are intact & turbo rebuilt. ARP studs & rod bolts required resizing the rods & align-boring the mains. Starting reassembly w/ new pistons & rings.
