Hi All
I'm running 1jzgte from markII to my Skyline R32 & plan to swap for 2jzgte block & Head. My concern, can this existing ecu & wiring from 1jz support for 2jz block & Head?
Thanks

do you plan on using the GTE intake manifold and exhaust manifold as well? at that point i would honestly use the 2jz ECU and harness to work with it .....

whats wrong with the RB?

It's probably a gts-t RB25 or RB20, He didn't not especify which model he has, I doubt he has the GTR model, or he wouldn't be asking this question.

Actually my Nissan Gtst came with rb20det than swap to rb25det than rb26dett from GTR & now with 1jzgte.
Main reason swap to 1jz is performance part for rb is expensive

R32's only came RB20 in gts-t form.. just thought I'd throw that out there for no reason what so ever lol.

I also don't understand why the hell you would swap out the RB26 for a 1.5J, in the end you'd think it would still be more expensive after already having the RB's wired in etc.

well, i can tell you being that im up in mainland japan for now, that the RB26, even here is big bucks, where as a 1jz out of a JZX90 is alot cheeper, so in some sense it dose really make sense to swap out a RB20DET for the 1jz, cause your still increasing your dispacement while increasing your power output, trust me, i drive a RB25DET it aint worth squat compaired to a 1jz even, but if he was driving a HCR32 GTS-T4, that would be a whole different thing all together.

sorry, i thought i would just put that out there

I think 1jz is stronger & smoother engine...as info i built 4g63t for drag purpose with 2jz piston & running 1.8bar@26degree without any problem.

I built 4g63T too, 26 degrees of timing???? I don't think they make any more power after 21 degrees.

Jostar,
Ignition timing should set by MBT (using knock device) not by figure. Once u reach the MBT u can feel the maximum out-put.

Knock sensors shouldn't be use for high horsepower applications, We use dynos & air fuel ratios here to detemine horsepower, For example my 92 supra with a 1jz made 422 hp at the wheels on stock twins & pump gas with a AEM ems, The knock sensors are disconnected, The car got tuned by Sound performance here in Chicago, They build the fastest, high horsepower Supras in the world.

Well, They have beat Titan before at texas, They build a 8.45 supra that was full weight & therecar ran a best of 8.35 full weight & there driver Jerry weights like 350 pound plus... If people don't know who Sound performace is or what they have accomplish before.

It's just a little narrow minded IMO.. You've got people like the fore mentioned TITAN, and then those like Boost Logic and others that constantly beat each other out in builds and times.

To each his own, I'm just saying, thats all.

Back to topic, sry.

I know of several 700whp Supras locally that still run knock sensors.

I do too, BUt alot of tuners dont wanna depend on that, There is times where the forge piston slaps the wall till they expand with heat, I really didn't care about my knock sensors been unplug, I still made good power, Right at the moment i'm getting all the goodies & get the car ready for texas next year & hopefully every canadian with a MKIII shows up...

Because both 1JZ and 2JZ require less money to make more HP than the money pit RB26. After watching all my GTR friends throw away their paychecks....just to get beat ...I wouldn't mess with anything that has the RB26 in it unless I'm a "RB26 enthusiast".

thats not true at all.. my friend has 500rwhp in his R32 RB26 and overall it didnt cost him anymore than it would say myself going single on my 1J.

I just think people don't know wtf they're doing or where to buy parts, ignorance brings down the world of tuning. I love the JZ motors more, but just know that information is inaccurate and just a common misconception by far. Yes they are more costly to fix AND to swap overall as he has his in an S13. But beyond that its more of the same unless you want all these specialty greddy/ hks/ tomei components, thats where you run into problems. Once again if you try for those high end enthusiast parts you run into the same problems with the JZ.

Whatever the verdict, its pointless anyways.. This is OT and I'm done speaking about it.

Parts (both new and used) were always cheaper (in Japan anyways) for the 1JZ/2JZ regardless of what it was, whether it was a turbo kit, suspension, brakes. Only thing that costs the same between the two were rims and universal electronics i.e. boost controllers. But what do I know...I only have lived there a third of my life.

There are few people in here that uses the 1j wiring/ecu with the 2j engine and none have problem with it.
