Original Explosive Material - Tobes' Build Thread

I think they are just the next best thing to OEM. I don't know if they're better. I used Felpro and ARP's a long time ago, and had no issue for 3+ years that I ran it that way. I only later changed because I changed engines.

I would search for Mercedes Metris rotors. I believe they are 2016-2023, but I would confirm that before ordering.

For the past two weeks, I've been attacking a to-do list for my car. Things like: Fix exhaust leak reinstall all interior plastics Reassemble gauge cluster adjust headlights(fabrication involved) Replace front and rear washer pumps Repair fuel sender replace fan clutch finish rear carpet install...

Original Explosive Material - Tobes' Build Thread

I just checked with my friend Google, and he says that the drill hole you used to put in a 10mm timesert was 13/32. The proper drill bit size for a 7/16 timesert is 29/64. In other words, you should be fine to upsize. But bear in mind- 7/16 itself, is 28/64, so 1/32 larger than your current...

It might be that the coiled wire, that acts as a variable resistor, has some bad surface areas on it, leading to random 'no continuity' issues. At least that would be my guess. Since you can pull the sender straight out of the access panel, I'd suggest doing what I did, and spray the whole...

Before you part out, consider going to 7/16 studs; That's what I did. If the holes are too big to tap to 7/16, you might be able to go to a 7/16 helicoil.

PS- Also finalized the rear carpet install, and added a fire extinguisher. Fits pretty well.

Okay, Down to 20-ish items. Aisin fan clutch is installed. But I found that one of the temp sensors on the Tstat housing was leaking, so now a new sensor is on its way. The gauge cluster still isn't closed up, but that should happen tomorrow. My final task with that, was to calibrate all of the...

Well, still working on the gauge cluster, but I did finally discover WHY my temp gauge wouldn't read right: I would set it to the 'C' at the bottom of the gauge, and turning on the ignition, the temp would shoot to full hot. I replaced the temp sender, and tested resistances at the gauge and the...

Well guys, I'm down to a single page of to-do items, left on the car. Some of them are as simple as aligning the headlights, and installing the glove box, and others are a bit more labor-intensive, like fabricating a fuel pressure regulator mount, and creating engine logs. But overall, I...

If ARP says 90, then go with that, using their moly lube. I said 75lbs, because I thought you were using ARP head bolts, not studs.

Graphics are finally completed. If you think its a bit too much- you're probably right. But that was the whole idea of this car; just a bit farther than comfortable for an everyday car.

So as for the wrap job, I didn't have enough of the orange left to do the other side, so since I had to order more, I ordered a sample of what I hope is a slightly darker version of copper-orange, so that it matched better with the wheels. We'll see in a few days. In the meantime, I'm still...

Ok, I freaked myself out the other day; I was running the engine up to operating temps for about 30 minutes, as I was also trying to check the DET3 connections through my laptop. All of a sudden, I see a bunch of blue(OIL!) smoke coming out of the exhaust! I'm like- "Oh sh!t... I am NOT pulling...

Welp, that worked. I ran the motor for 20 minutes, until it was at full temp, and was able to Finally get that center coolant plug out. Looking at it, I'm pretty sure, that I only had one last attempt, before it became a perfect circle, and stripped out completely: I was planning to pull a...

Your radiator looks to be original. If it is, it could very well be getting clogged. Years ago, I had an issue in the summer, where the temp would be fine while driving, but if I turned on AC, it would begin to overheat. I was right at the maximum heat transfer threshold of the cooling system...

Clunk sound from rear- Anyone ever had a bad half shaft?

When I replaced the diff, i looked for cracks, and didn’t see any. Im going to have to crawl back under, to get another look.

I know that i promised pics, and they are coming, but i thought i’d update while I had free time: I was able to remove and re-seal the front and rear coolant plugs, but that middle one will NOT budge. I’ve heated it, added PB blaster, and used both breaker bar and impact gun, but all I’ve...
