    Track vids- VIR 11/19/07

I've been riding along with a friend in an Accord that lost brakes at the end of the straight and caught ~1 ft. of air on one side recovering from an off (all in one session) If I had closed my eyes I never would have believed it was a econo sedan. Rc, I didn't answer all of your question...

    Track vids- VIR 11/19/07

One thing about Patriot is it's billed as a "high speed autocross" so you're not doing hot laps (run a single lap and then pit in) which means the tires aren't getting hot (at least not in Feb.) If you've never driven a track, I'd hope you would tend to not drive beyond your ability which means...

    Racing my Supra

Be careful on a Roval with that kind of power. I ran a series on an oval this year (rovalcross) and you've got to keep some composure when near the walls, they don't budge :) I've been a little loose near them and it's a different feeling than doing so in an area without walls. If you're just...

    Wheel Fitment & Question Thread

I tried my 17x10 +38 on the front yesterday. They have slightly more clearance from the shock than the rears (rear is about a fingertip of clearance) I'll drive to see if any contact is noticed (appears they could rub the inner fender liner under hard braking) Tires on the 17x10 are 255/40, car...

RSR springs, Illumina II struts, Tanabe Sways

RSR, Eibach and TRD are about the only springs heavier than stock (that I've found). Of those only the RSR is a linear rate. I think most mk3 shelf springs were offered for a lower, plush ride not motorsports intention.

    Thunderhill drift 12/22

If nothing else Grimsta, it's good practice for when you're beyond the limit on track. Maybe I should try a drift event sometime, sliding the car at 50-60 feels fine, doing so at high speed doesn't sit well with me yet. Btw, you'll really like the feedback with harder bushings in place, no...

    XTD Clutch scam!

From looking at the Sout Bend piece again, it appears exactly like the XTD unit on the first page, even has the green dot intact on the diaphragm (appears to be a faded dot and then a newly painted one. The tabs on the side are still painted green like the stock unit and the rivets have been...

    NASA-X Mid Atlantic TTD Champion

Thanks guys, appreciate the support! Supra28, those are the same folks that lead the events in our region (STS Civics and big tire Vettes) which is why I'm glad for classing. It is heavy but it's also gained the attention of quite a few of those Honda, Miata and Vette drivers who have driven...

    XTD Clutch scam!

I just got my South Bend clutch setup, looks just like the XTD one. Red painted outside and springs are more silver towards the inside from heating (can see the heated areas) Don't most brands use a modified stock PP?

    NASA-X Mid Atlantic TTD Champion

Well, the final event of the season came down to me and my buddy in his Subie, seperated by 2 points so the winner would take the season championship for TTD class. We had a good battle going back and forth. I had run a 50.9X to his 51.7X and on he last run he did a 50.713. I responded with a...

    Track vids- VIR 11/19/07

Sounds like a couple of us will be there in Feb. It'll be cold, hopefully I'll have a new clutch to see if that's why I'm not catching people on the straight :)

Steel / chromolly flywheels for 7m?

I've seen several available for the JZ series but haven't seen them for the 7M. Does anyone know if these are available (I've seen the Ebay ones but haven't heard feedback on those) Thanks for any help, Brian

I'm avoiding the Feb. one in case it snows again but come late March there's less chance (although this is VA and it's happened in April) Hopefully you'll make it out there, always trying to get more Supra guys on track :)

    Track vids- VIR 11/19/07

It's VIR in Alton, Va on the VA/NC border. I'm still on street tires, this was the 3rd track event I've done and yes, that's an instructor. He's pointing to make sure I'm looking ahead to where I should, once you're on track that stuff makes a lot more sense, if you're looking at the turn you're...

    Track vids- VIR 11/19/07

Here are links to a couple quick vids I put together from last week at VIR. The first was a spin just after going green as the track was drying up, then getting back to speed a lap later chasing the 944 Turbo: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4000422762726822612 The second was...

    Can Supras Turn?

According to R&T some karts are capable of 3 G's, I've also read that IRL cars see around 4 G's. http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=21&article_id=1082&page_number=2 I know what you mean about the Miatas. A friend has just stuffed 275 R'comps all around on his. He's thinking...
