    Which manual steering rack

I'm planning on ditching the stock steering, as I need more feel through the rack and into the steering wheel, out on the track. I found a reference to a Corolla manual rack, and I'm going to source one at a junk yard, to get a closer look at it. Has anybody else been this route? If so, how...

What are the Pros and Cons of Windage Trays or Crank Scrapers

I've increased the capacity of the oil pan, by two quarts, and had swinging baffles added as well. What I really need to know; will the 7M crank scraper being sold on SIP Racing, do the job it was designed for, or don't waste my time and money? Thanks, Van

What are the Pros and Cons of Windage Trays or Crank Scrapers

I'm building a road race 7M, and was wondering if anyone on this forum has experience using windage trays or crank scrapers in a 7M? How useful are either one, to an engine that will only see 6500 RMPs, tops, but be kept in the power curve for most of the time on the track, over 3000 RPMs? I'm...

    Lightweight hoods?

Hi Brian, "Frankenstein" is going to be getting back to me re a group in Surrey BC, that he recalls is in business, making light weight hoods. I'll let you know what he discovers re Supra, light weight hoods, as soon as I hear from him. Otherwise, you may want to turn to Supra Store, I see...

Does the 7MGTE oil pan need modification?

I'm going to R compounds on the car; during road course turns, does the oil pan need to be modified to keep oil from slipping away from the oil pump pick-up? Van

    racing seats lol

Hi, Consider this seat: http://www.pitstopusa.com/detail.aspx?ID=55255 . I'm planning on going this route. I've been told by several guys in my sports car club, these are great for road racing at my level. You can choose a cover to match your needs, and the seat cover can be changed if you...

    Lightweight hoods?

Brian, I found a very fine manufactuer of CF in Canada, who warranties their hoods for track use : http://www.geminicomposites.com/products/toyota_carbon_fiber_hood.html , but you may also place yourself into a very competetive class using that hood. I think from everything you've written...

RS*R Race Springs for Road Racing

I ordered them through their web site and had them shipped ground, UPS. They were delivered here (Portland, OR), seven days later from a warehouse in California. They beat the Horsepowerfreaks price quote, at the time. Van

RS*R Race Springs for Road Racing

RS*R Race springs, driven around on the uneven surfaces that are the norm in the Portland area, are tolerable. The springs are paired w/KYB GR2. The float is gone and the dive is too (floating while going down the freeway and dive going over speed bumps, on the 10 y/o TRD springs). I also...

Front brake cooling duct in place of the Fog Light

No, I ran into a problem. One caused from not planning this cars set-up, but rather doing it piece meal. The cold air intake mod I have in place, coupled with how I routed the inter-cooler pipes, is getting in the way of fitting the NACA ducts, so I now need to reroute the inter-cooler pipes...

Front brake cooling duct in place of the Fog Light

Yes, they were helpful, but I found them lacking for how I brake and I tend to trail brake, so I'm moving to R4-1, which are closer to how hot my calipers get (I used heat sensing paint to aid in my decision). I'll try those along with the ducting. Van

Front brake cooling duct in place of the Fog Light

So, Saturday I went out to the pre-season Tech Inspection for SCCA and due to the numerous non-stock upgrades on my Supra, I'm classified into ITE, a catch all group (run what you bring). I was told by two techs there I'll run with the likes of last seasons, regional points winner, a...

    Track Ready '87 Turbo Hardtop

Great feed back. I was at the Cascade Sports Car Club meeting last Saturday, and asked five Club members and one of last years point leaders, all of whom compete in the various SCCA classes, about cryo rotors and although they don't know anything about my car, they have used cryo'd rotors, but...

RS*R Race Springs for Road Racing

I purchased the RS*R race springs and installed them yesterday, along with an alignment that afternoon and the drive back home was enjoyable. I also will be installing Tanabe Sustec chromoly steel anti-sway bars next week and there may be less roll as a result of these upgrades. Next month...
