I guess there is a chance of messing up the bearings but most of the impacting force is lost to the actual stud coming out so I do not think much of the banging gets to the bearings. And I don't drink so use that beer money to get your self some beers while you are working on this :)

2. greese the area where the stud will meet the hub
3. use a stack of washers and a lug nut to pull the lug nut though.
It would be easiest with an impact gun.

What you need to do is open up the boost gauge and change it out with a super bright LED which you can get at any electrical store or maybe i can even mail it to you if I have any laying around. Just check to see what the diameter of the led is.
That was a piaa bulb. It gave out a purple tint. Those are about $15
