the truck doesn't do so well on gas. 4.0 litre, n/a v6, w vvt-i and an incredibly restricted stock exhaust :aigo:
IMO the supra did MUCH better on gas (30mpg cruising, 18 around town and still boosting)
and I pay $3.65 for exxon premium :-/
o, and removing the tailgate uses noticeably less...
i got a extended cab, very nice truck, tows effortlessly, came in 6 speed manual too, it takes a while to get used to a fly by wire TB tho (sr-5, off road, w/ towing package) also handles very nice on tarmac, bilsteins and coilover suspension up front (updated from tension bars)
I had brembo cross-drileld rotors and hawk ceramic pads.... very nice, but the ceramic pads ate right though the rotors... after 10k miles, braking performance has gone down drastically
i'm just sayin... i'd destroy 'em in my '89 targa O_O that thing was a tank, and all i had was a bic downpipe, 3" inch exhaust, and hacked stock airbox w/ k&n filter, i've raced 'em in my '87 too, and the decimation was even worse (more mods of course, and less weight)
hrm, i just removed that rubber strip on the top of the firewall, no shimming, i've no way of telling whether it disrupts airflow (which it may, very well) but i did it to reduce under hood temps in the summer, since it gets furiously hot
BTW, you should just invest your money in a turbo motor.... my n/a got TERRIBLE gas mileage (and was still in tip-top condition), but the turbo (7m) gets over 30mpg
