Just have to take the top cam gear cover off, line up the cam gears with the marks, pull the #1 spark plug to verify piston is at TDC, crank pulley is at "O", and the rotor is pointing at the #1 plug on the distributor cap. Don't rotate the motor until you install the distributor back in.

Could be an exhaust leak. I have always run prem. since I bought mine new, says too. You should if you are running a little more timing also, try it and see if the noise goes away.

Find another shop, they shoundn't touch the bores until they have the pistons.

Two vsv's if I remember right is suppost to be there.

Most everybody will put an extra quart in to help prevent starving the oil pump under hard cornering and braking. Won't hurt anything.
