for the knock sensor rewire, what you need is an insulated wire, like tv cable. i used stranded rg58 and grounded the metal sheathing at both ends of the wire. search for the knock sensor rewire. leave shaeff alone, its easy...
i dont think its a foolish question at all. from what people have said in this thread, running 87 shouldnt be a problem, but for only a few dollars more you can add a little bit of insurance to your build.
