Here are some pictures of my clearances with plastigauge (sorry for the quality).
I came within range of clearance so I was satisfied.
Then we got to putting the crank in and torqueing it down by the TSRM sequence. Thank god we had a printed version, saves like an hour of laptop time...
So I measured my crank's clearances with a micrometer today and these are my results.
For my main rods I got from 2.0460 - 2.0465.
But for my main journals I get 2.3515 - 2.3517...I'm about .001 off from spec.
I'm planning to go with STD bearings so where do I stand now as clearance wise...
Cool thanks man. That's what I wanted to hear. And yep I'm getting the rods resized as well. Everything is still in the shop at the moment; still waiting for everything to get back.
Yeah I hope I don't come across any issues with NPR as well; pray that all goes well lol. I did my research...
Here are some pictures that made me decide I needed new pistons.
All what you are about to witness is indeed mold, rust, and corrosion.
(Note that this is AFTER I degreased them and washed them)
That was before I decided to get new pistons haha; the list on the first page is an updated one ^^. After I degreased the pistons I knew I needed new ones lol.
Still question about the cressida/supra thing. Anyone wanna chime in?
It's been a while but I was never able to finish my engine in time to swap it in before the current engine in my car blew. So had to pull the engine out and still prep my second motor for the shop.
Here are some pics of the engine being pulled.
Man you know....this is pretty embarrasing to say but I'll come out with it anyways cause I prolonged this thread for a long time haha.
Throughout all this time I've always listened to it from the gearbox and never diagnosed the sound through the engine bay. So for the first time, I popped...
wow that's good info. yeah after someone told me earlier so about the reverse I started to really watch it. Now it goes in smooth, so I'm settled with that :icon_bigg
As for the tranny, I've noted as much as I could. I'll list them for the hell of it cause class is boring as hell.
1st...
yeah it does, but it's a lot quieter and it isn't constant; you'll only hear the clatter a few times.
the clatter also only happens when I'm on the accelerator...don't know if that helps. and I'm dropping my tranny this sunday to inspect my flywheel and such.
This just came to my attention; is the NSS only for automatics?!
Cause I can start my car without my clutch depressed.....so that does mean my car was auto at one point? >_<
Here is a video recording of my tranny noises. It's that loud clattering noise, you can't miss it. Sorry for the crazy camera movements; it was hard to drive, shift, and record at the same time LOL.

haha no worries; everyone makes mistakes. As long as you admitted it and not let your ego take over lol...
No, before it was a bit difficult to push it into first gear but now that's alot smoother. Overall there are no shift problems, but everytime I shift to different gears, there are...
what? I thought transmission fluid and LSD fluid is different? I thought one of them does not need the friction modifier?
If it does, how does the friction modifier help internal parts gone bad, say the bearings in my case?
And by you stating that people use that additive to get rid of "that...
no one has anything to say?!
=[
well I asked my friend and he said it's my bearings; they're going out.
can someone else chime in?
the clattering noise gets really loud at certain times; mainly at low RPMs. it sounds weird as a shift through the gears as well; like when I'm in fifth...
Okay first of all I want to apologize; I know there are a lot of tranny treads out there. I read through a good percentage of them, if not all, and I still could not find my answer.
I have a LOUD clattering noise and it sure sounds like it is the tranny. I just drained my fluid and it filled...
I got these little alien punks out.
It was like my engine was giving birth...I kept pushing, and some liquid would drip...and you get the idea. and POP the alien comes out!
Did some reorganizing
And started to degrease the pistons...
Didn't do too much, but it doesn't look like I can...
