try changing bus oil. 10 gal pan with two oil filters holding 2 gal per filter and with a drain plug on the oil pan that is pointed at a 45 degree angle that sometimes strips without a 6pt 1/16 socket.
best time to change it is when its warm, warm oil on a bus is a few hundred degrees. so...
if the cams havent been removed I dont see why, maybe check to see if its shimmed right but thats about it for that.
did you buy it with no valve covers?
theres a search function homie... but the jist of it is, remove head, replace hg, get new bolts or studs depending on choice. then flush oil to get coolant out of bearings.
thats the nice way of saying it tho... warped head and tons of other crap can change all that
