IIRC, trans would have to be opened and resealed.... If your doing it yourself and know whats going on you can rebuild it... or just reseal it.... It just uses atoyota silicone made for gear oil.... Replace the seals on it too.. tail seal n front shaft IIRC has one
Iirc the interals of a ge n gte are identical except for pistons squirters no turbo feed. Rods n crank are same oil pump is different as gte uses a crank position sensor and the ge is distributor. The heads vary a little as well. But that i have noo info on.

When in doubt keep it out, go back to the machine shop and see if you can get the surface completely flat. if you were charged for new valves show them that they aren't new... maybe reconditioned but not new.
