All i found was a dead-end thread and, this quote from the you know you own a N/A when thread ; "you know you're a N/A owner when your friends notice a bit of a whine and you have to tell them its not a turbo spooling....but you wish it was." Is this common?
I notice a whine coming from my...
AWWW man that sucks! good luck getting it all fixed up. hopefully DM gets to keep the bad jz for rebuild? maybe that could help with some of the labor...a good block...
what is the noticeable difference? is it bad? i run a quart over nobody EVER specified GTE's only....
and yeah the 3rd middle plate that covers the galley would, with the proper spark plug wires, help keep oil out. but IIRC it's rather expensive to get a new one. in light of that i...

just make sure your oil level is good, in fact its not bad to run one extra quart of oil.
I agree, valve cover gaskets commonly go bad and leak oil everywhere.
Would it be hard to make your own rears? I think it would be great. I'm not nearly close to having a car that I could do this to (strip, mod, fill, finish, paint) but man...if i had a job and a project car i'd be all over this!!! I hope opportunities like this come along later.
there are 7 nuts/bolts (not sure, but 7 of something) holding the curved upright plenum to the intake manifold. When i say intake manifold i'm referring to the short piece that extends 5 or 6 inches from the head, to the plenum that goes up and then over the engine.
maybe i used the wrong terms;
what i mean is, if the oil is thick and doesn't run back from the top of the engine to the oil pan, his reading will be 'low'.
if the oil is warm and not as thick, it could run back to the oil pan faster, filling the pan up to the 'higher' reading.
make sense...
yeah...
i would think cold, more viscous oil (not warmed up) will not completely fall back into the oil pan, where hot oil is going to be less viscous and drain quickly back into the pan.
to test that theory you could check your oil, make a note. then run it for a bit but without warming it...
--EDIT!!-----
OH!! I totally forgot that EGR stuff!! you have to remove the EGR tube because those bolts thread through the intake manifold into the head....
but see if this doesn't help with this one way or another;

look at the nuts and bolts you pulled off and consult the TSRM for the number it should have. or look on a new gasket if you have one. Also, i vaguely remember one of the VSV's getting in my way...as one bolts on with the manifold. this happened to mee to i think, one of the bolts on the...
I was referring to how a motorcycle can manage itself at high speeds. I was imagining how tipsy and crazy a van would be at speed...
i dunno - all i know is i wasn't referring to aerodynamics when i said that.
ok so you're not removing the big plenum, but the actual manifold that bolts onto the head? are you SURE you removed all the nuts and bolts? i think there are 7...consult the TSRM to make sure...
the gasket could have stuck the intake manifold to the head really tight as well. as far as i...
