Rebuilding it yourself would be nice so you can learn your engine. If you know what your doing then do it. I would do mine but i don't have all the tools and specs to do it but everything is so tight on these engines. I would order all the parts myself and make sure they are good parts and then...
If you plan on keeping the 7m and not goin 2j or 1j then deffinately rebuild it. If the knock isn't that bad you may not have to rebuild the whole thing or end up spending less. You never know what your gonna get from a used engine and during shipping stuff gets broken. If you do rebuild it...
Its best to fix the rust if you want that sound mat to stay there other wise your going to lose the bottom of your spare tire well. The mat is going to hold more moisture or water against the metal and make it worse. If you want to rig it you could find or make a pan the size of the spare tire...
Is it/has it been low and you refilled it w/o bleeding? It can get air bubbles from different things. Or you didn't bleed it right, and didn't put enough in.
Your welder will work but a wire feed with shielding gas would be best. Make your you do about inch beads at a time and give each one a minute or so to cool down you don't want to warp the metal that would suck. Set the voltage low and the wire feed slow as you want to weld slow to get good...
Have you ever changed the head gasket if not its probably due! The tick is most likely a shim, check the gap between shims and cams. Possibly an injector tick also? I'm thinking it was oil leaking from the valve covers and into the spark plug valley. Not sure why it didn't start. Good luck.
I had oil in my spark plug valley too and I just replaced the valve cover gaskets and it doesn't leak there anymore. I've never taken those hex bolts out, I didn't know what they were too so I didn't mess with them.
I voted black before I saw the wheels you were looking at. Black usually looks good on any color car in my opinion with the right style for the car, but those gunmetal colored rims are sweet! That would be my pick for those wheels. Its all up to you though man so good luck.
Same thing happened to me a while back, just bleed it and it should be fine. Manually push and pull the clutch pedal till it gets stiff again then refill it with brake fluid or clutch flui but brake fluid works.
I have an 89 an still have the stock speakers in but I wanted to replace the door speakers with 6" with tweeters because the guy before me cut out holes in the panel so I might as well fill them with tweeters lol. The stock speaker box is still there and I was going to take it out and mount the...
So I'm changing my head gasket because it is really blown and when taking the downpipe off to get the turbo off, by the way the downpipe was a bitch to take off it looks like my engine has never been taken apart or worked on which in some cases can be good... Anyways we finally got the dp off...
Your best bet is finding a puppie from a breeder even though it might be more exspensive its worth it.. You can raise it to your standards. Even though rescuing a dog is nice I hate to see dogs suffer but you never know how they were raised or treated. GL with the find though its all up to what...
I think the backfire is your timing might be off. What do you idle at? I think its supposed to be 6 or 700.. My timing was off and it was idling at 1000rpm and sometimes 1500 and it backfired. I'm not a technician but that's just what I've learned..
