The owner's name is Richey, great guy to deal with.
I just used a closed ended wrench on the engine side and ~2ft of extensions with a universal (swivel) joint on the tranny side. yes it's a pita, I've recently bought some ratcheting wrenches so I'm actually looking forwards to the next time I have to pull it. Good luck.
feel free to drop by tomorrow for lunch ;) I'm in Richmond
This no supra thing is finally starting to bug me. That and the room of parts is depressing.
The bump stops might have been in place but have been worn down. which causes the bolt to catch on the lower a-arm and make that popping sound you're talking about when you're at full tilt.
FYI there are some North American MKiiis that have the stock engine brace. It looks like a small hood strut and mounts near the starter. Grim can vouche, we hunted a long time for one. I don't recall what year or model the car was, but I think it was a pre 89

Sorry to hear. Best of luck getting it fixed up. 500$ US does sound a lot for a deductable, but I don't know anything about your insurance company.
That drawing killed me!
It's probobly from the coolant hose that comes from the thermostat housing area to the turbo. Roughly an 8" long 1/4" id rubber hose that goes from the thermostat housing to the turbo.
