Run the resistance check on the sensor anyway... last item on the list in the TSRM as I recall, and easy to do. That checks the heater unit in it, which should get it up to operating temp much faster. It's reasonably common for that heater circuit to be dead.

Personally, I'd pull the caps, clean them, and plastigauge the setup as it is now. If something is way out, I'd likely try to get it closer by swapping caps. But GV is right, 25 miles is a LONG time to run with something messed up like that, and if it was going to cause damage, it's already done.

Switches that are out of adjustment. For instance, my clutch switch had backed off just enough that it was always sending the clutch pedal is DOWN signal to the CC computer. It was a simple matter to reset the switch, and my CC started working again immediately.

Check the VSV that's connected to the FPR... or just disconnect the FPR next time you hot start it, see if the problem goes away.
