Yes and no on the boring part. If you stay on the main interstate = BORING. I've gone that to NM about 7 times usually take farm roads through TX. I think 36 cuts diagonaly. AZ from Vegas to Phx is a great stretch through the Joshua Forest. Salt River Canyon is a blast. NM depends on your route...
