    My Extremely Blown Head Gasket!

Your car has low enough mileage that you could probably do a retorque to 72 lbs and be ok for another 150k miles. If you haven't done it already, start thinking about it. Mine wasn't an all of a sudden blow, it worked up to it over a period of time. The headbolts were very loose and as you...

    ForcedTorque's 3E5 has Arrived!!!!!

Well you did see all those supras last week on your little clutch break in cruise. Now I'm not advocating you to trade because you've come so far with this car. What kind of starter rigging is done? Is it the starter or wiring that's the problem? Hang in there Scott!

So its finally happened the knock

That sucks! Sorry to hear. The knock is from coolant leaking into the oil from the bhg. It's eats the bearings up.

    My Extremely Blown Head Gasket!

What's the best way to flush it? Yep, this is a trophy! Not all six were blown. The middle two cylinders stayed together. I sure as hell hope not. I actually laughed out loud at this! Having never met me, you sure know me.:biglaugh: The only way I'd sell this one for another bhg...

    Roundfinger's Refurb...making things right again

You really need the 190 degree thermostat in there. The ECU is very pissy about it. Fuel mixture is determined by it. Car looks good. Seats look great!

    My Extremely Blown Head Gasket!

The only bolts that made me have to exert any kind of effort to break were the bolts around the two middle cylinders. I think I'm going to frame this one. It's a keeper.

oil water temp gauge no worekie after turbo swap

You did connect all the plugs by the ecu correct? Also, I believe early 89's and later 89's have different wiring harnesses.

    My Extremely Blown Head Gasket!

I know not everyone reads my build so I thought I'd post this here too. Today I seperated the head and block and the gasket just fell apart. I do not know how this car ran...and ran so damn good. Only symptom was slowly building pressure in the coolant system causing a slow overflow of the...

    My 1991 Jay Blue Supra

Today I got the head off. Most of the head bolts were scary loose. I think only the number 9 bolt was hard to break. The headgasket pretty much fell apart when I pulled the head off. It was definitely blown. I don't how the car ran so well. Ok, here's some pics.

    Milo's Booster Seat...

On December 10th, this thread will be two years old. Just thought I'd throw that out there.:icon_roll I've had four supras in the course of this build. Jay, how many engines between you and Vonda? Kristel? Scott? ;)

    My build/introduction

Coil pack covers are still available from Toyota. You could also maybe find one in the for sale section here or sometimes on ebay. People are often proud of them pricewise though. New from Toyota is around $80.

    My 1991 Jay Blue Supra

No, there's no need for it to come off. I did pull the plug on the side of the block though! Yes I did. I completely loosened 3 of the 4 bolts holding the compressor on. The 4th one partially stripped and there was no way I going to be able to get a pair of vice grips in there. I was...

    My 1991 Jay Blue Supra

Yeah, the valve cover screws are very very loose and one is stripped.:3d_frown: I'm thinking maybe when they replaced the timing belt they pulled 'em for some reason. Pull it with the tranny. I don't have a load leveler and just used a chain. It worked well for me each time I've...

    Bluechulappa's 89Turbo restoration

It relatively simple to pull the engine. Unless you want to spend a long time under the car with about 6 feet of extensions, I'd pull the tranny with the motor. It will make things so much easier.

    My 1991 Jay Blue Supra

Oh it will be in the hotel parking garage. We're staying almost across the street from the .....Toyota Center... and will walk from the hotel! Will still be in Texas with Texas plates. Thank you! The IC pipe off the turbo is in ok condition. I looked at and squeezed and it still seemed...

    My 1991 Jay Blue Supra

She called it a piece of shit money tank yesterday.:3d_frown: Half of that is true. I'll pm you if I need something answered. Thanks! Yeah, I want it back on the road before the 20th of Nov. My buddy Dustin and I going to see Metallica in Houston and I really want to take the Supra down...
