While researching a screeching sound I discovered this:
That's a new ac compressor. I can't remember what brand it is but I know it's not a Denso. The idler pulley is only a few months old and was the source of the screech. I was thinking maybe shimming the front two bolts on the compressor to...
It shows that Mr. Carlson, the op, has not logged in in over a year. I'm curious to know how his situation ended up.
Guess I'll add my two cents as well. I wonder what the average mileage of a 7M is before bhg. My 91 had 133k miles on it when it blew. Most original engines I've encountered...
I did buy it and install it on the car. Seems just fine so far although it's not my daily driver. Definitely a lot smoother going in and out of gear. (Automatic)

There is a set of springs that only drop a half inch in the rear and inch in the front but are noticeably more firm. I cannot recall the brand but if I have time today I'll search some threads I think they might be in and post em up.

Thanks for the bump Emilio. I was going to update this today anyway.
I'm about to sell my house hopefully before Christmas so after the first of the year I've got major plans.
With all my previous supras I've been chasing a dream, or pipedream more like it. I've wanted a Supra that rode and...
If you can move them at all with little effort then it's time to replace. It's an old car. My Lexus lower control arm bushings went out (very common on SC's) and the car shook like hell after 55 mph. It would also clunk over rough bumps and tramline (follow every groove in the road).
It's a fkn beautiful car. New shocks/mounts, replace the headgasket, hoses, and seals, and fix the fan issue (probably a bad sensor) and you have a rock solid car.
$9k is what he is asking for it but that doesn't mean that's what he will have to have to let go of it. I don't blame him for...
I'm kind of a ride snob and like as close to a stock ride as I can get without being completely stock. My 88 has Eibachs and Tokico Illumina II's and I'm riding on stock 16x7 wheels. It's a pretty smooth ride. My experience with the Tokico Blue shocks is with my old SC300. They were a very stiff...
Going to add a little kudos to this thread Derek, aka JDMMA70.
I drove my 88 Supra down from Fort Worth to Katy, Tx with parts in the hatch so that he could repair my a/c. My expansion valve had taken a dump and the compressor seemed to be dying a slow death. So a brand new compressor...
Elmhurst is always my first "go to" place. Curt quoted me $240. I have found it just a little cheaper on various Toyota parts websites. I don't have a problem paying that for a true oem part but the thrifty side of me is very curious as to the quality of these units.
