yep done this tones of times but i use candy base coat. and you can do side markers, tail lights whatever you can think of. and it make them look brand new when your done.

ya i dont recommend the spray cans there uncatalized so it doesnt hold up to well. and also on those light blue metallics like on your car, they dont match very great. Just wait till you have the money and spray it through a gun with a basecoat clearcoat

I recomend you do it yourself you can get all the primer sealer basecoat and clear for about 500 bucks. I work at a automotive paint store and I've explained to people how to paint there car that have never even picked up a spray gun. Its all about nice even coats and waiting the recomended dry...
