Hi, im new to the forum and want to say i appreciate a community like this, this is great to be a part of and hopefully i can contribute some of my knowledge in the future. I have owned my 87 supra for a year now and it has been in the shop for 8 months of it waiting on parts (i have 2 kids-enough said). I absolutely love everything about the car even before i owned it i have always been obsessed with it. So anyway now i have the funds saved and am going to start ordering parts. I have a couple things i was hoping some of you Gurus could clear up for me and yes i have used the Search button just looking for the details and i know the answers out there somewhere but i would greatly appreciate any help. Some of my questions i have seen mixed emotions about. With that said:

#1 What else do i NEED with the 550/lexus mod to insure that it will run ok-I dont want to get a bunch of bells and whistles or i would have just went standalone I just need to know what i NEED if anything to go with these?

#2 Would you reccommed changing out the oil pump or anything else since i have tore into her or will my stockers be sufficient i am already replacing rod main bearings and shit and if I'm going through all that what else would i want to do to help prevent me from having to rebuild in the future- Im not wanting to replace everything just the basic since im already in there?

#3 Here we go the question that has been asked over and over (flame me)...I have a custom aftermarket down-pipe that bolts to stock CT-26 and i want a turbo that will give me what i want (probably more than what any CT-26 will do) but i want bolt-on to stock mani and downpipe. IS THIS A REALISTIC POSSIBILITY?? Or is a rebuilt CT all I'm gonna need?

1) Should run ok with the Lex AFM/550's but it never hurts to run a wideband o2 sensor to keep an eye on things. Upgrading your fuel pump would also be highly recommended.

2) If you already have it apart then yes, change the oil pump. Sure it's $200+ but would you trust your freshly built engine to a tired oil pump? Driftmotion has an upgraded pump and sells an upgraded line kit as well.

3) Check out Sound Performance. They make a bolt on CT26 replacement available in multiple trims for up to 700 rwhp. If you're only shooting for 400 or so an upgraded CT would be a cheaper alternative.

Thanks for the replies guys Sound Performance has alot of awesome stuff! I didn't even know about them. Their turbos might be a little out of my price range for now to do everything i want to do but good to know about them for the future. I forgot to add that i already make an MK4 fp but I do agree that an afpr and a wideband should be used. My problem is: i understand what they both do but installing them and using them correctly is another thing for me as this is my first car with a turbo. I am a fast learner and fairly smart guy but don't have any desire to get into the tuning stage yet. Is it fairly self explanitory to monitor and control fuel once these are installed? Also have any of you had experience with Albert or know of anyone that has he seems to have good prices on the 57trim and such.

wideband will have a gauge that you can read in car that will tell you air/fuel ratio. also may want to get a safc/ tuning device.
albert is a well known member that sells good product. i paid i believe 400 for my ct57 trim. but put a post up in the parts wanted for a turbo, and see what you can get.

I would definitely do the oil pump upgrade from Driftmotion. I just tore my entire engine down last week and when I pulled the caps off of the cams, the front journal on each cam was scarred pretty bad from a lack of oil pressure. As far as your other two questions, I am still learning those myself. Good luck to you though. I am in the same boat you are though with my car being down for a while. It has only been a month, but I see at least a few more before she has the engine back in it.

I have learned what i needed to know and now made my decisions and purchased an afpr, wideband and soon a 60-1 trim CT 26 turbo from Albert. I will be tearing into the bottom end to check everything out. Thanks for the help guys. This thread can be closed i guess.
